   The Spots

The Theater

The Theater, (pictured above), has a roof, some very tall problems, and many other boulder lines on it. Starting from the parking lot, Get yourself a map from the trailhead at parking. Find where the blue trail enters the park. Follow the blue trail (Quinnipiac Trail) to a very small bridge and the fork in the trail. Take the red trail to the right. Three minutes down the trail joins with the blue trail again, and visible to the right is the loose rock face of "the quarry". Turn around now and the bouldering is hidden to your left below a ledge. On both sides there are places to step down under.

Beach Boulder

The most easy bouldering, just as close to parking as The Theater Area is found next to the river a little way past the old dam. Take the purple trail to the damn, and follow the short sandy path to the small beach where people fish - the boulder stands out on your right. This boulder and the one above it offer nice, pleasant (easy) bouldering. *Watch the landing - there are prickly things around the boulders.

Cliff-Top Area

Another, totally inconvenient boulder is at the top of The Giant's "chin", (near the cliffs).
It's on the blue trail. You can go up the tower trail (the dirt road), past the cliffs, and left on the blue trail all the way to the top. Or, for the rugged hikers- directly up the blue trail from the river, and just past the cliff edges. (This boulder is too insignificant to hike up the mountain for, unless of course you want the excercise).
