****************************************************** --Submitted to CT CLIMBING WEBSITE by Bill Ivanoff-- THE WAREHOUSE RUN 5.7 FA. William P. house, Wilson Ware 1934 FFA.? William Ivanoff, Robert Schrader May 1986 START: This North to South girdle traverse, which enjoys the distinction of being the first in this country, starts on a ledge about 15' below an overhang at the North end of the chin. The ledge can be reached by scrambling up a 4th class ramp to the right. FIRST PITCH: From the ledge below the overhang, climb left past an old pin and up to a good ledge, with a large spike, about 30' away. SECOND PITCH: Step down, cross a groove with two pins, climb up and left around corners. Cross the overhanging, left leaning buttress of DEFENDER on a down sloping ramp, step across the chimney. Diagonal up and left to a vine infested belay ledge about 15' from the top. THIRD PITCH: Continue left and up almost to the top of the cliff, climb around the corner and down on large blocks to a ramp. "Hand traverse" around another corner, step left and down climb on nice layback holds to a niche. (We used two ropes and a back-belay on this section. House and Ware rappelled and pendulumed) FORTH PITCH: Climb down and left. Step across a wide groove with a good jug on the right, above an old partly driven pin. Climb up the prominent South sloping platform between WEISSNER'S and RADAMANTHUS. FIFTH PITCH: A short descent is made from the far side of the platform. The route continues at this level eventually crossing an easy gully and on to a belay at a large pillar. (130') Because of rope drag we suggest belaying at the gulley. SIXTH PITCH: From the pillar, step up and around a corner and on to another corner with ann old ring pin. Step up and around this corner and walk across a wide broken gulley to the base of a low angle buttress. SEVENTH PITCH: Ascend the low angle buttress to the top.
