Barbara Leigh Gregson is an internationally known researcher with hundreds of television, documentary and motion picture credits.  A specialist in Film Research and Clearances, Barbara has worked with nearly every major network, studio and production company. 

 

A native of Los Angeles, she attended California State University, Northridge where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Radio-Television Broadcasting, Emphasis in Film.  Barbara attended graduate school at the University of Southern California where she earned a Master of Science in Education, Instructional Technology.

 

Barbara has recently Co-Produced the NBC series entitled “Most Outrageous Moments” and has Associate Produced and Production Managed several HBO documentaries including “The Greatest Scandals of the Century” and “Real Detectives”.  In 1991, she was selected by Telepictures to attend MIPCOM in Cannes, France as an Acquisitions Executive. 

 

In August 2005, Barbara was invited to participate in the Berkeley, California roundtable discussion on “Orphan Works” for the U.S. Copyright Office.  In 1989, Barbara edited the Seminar Workbook "The Anatomy of Video Tape Production" presented by The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the American Association of Producers.  For her work Barbara received a Certificate of Outstanding Service from The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and in 1998 received another certificate from the ATAS “for contributions to the Emmy Award Winning Achievement-Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or a Movie ‘George Wallace’ ”.  In addition, Barbara was a guest lecturer at Kodak in Hollywood for the International Documentary Association‘s 1998 and 2003 Seminar series “Documentaries from A to Z” and for the Producers Guild of America.  Barbara has also been a Guest lecturer at USC School of Cinema, UCLA Department of Film and Television, California State University Northridge and UCLA Extension.  Barbara was a consultant for Clearances for feature film clips, stock shots and archive footage for the book “Film & Video Budgets  by Michael Wiese and Deke Simon.

 

Barbara is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the International Documentary Association.   She Chairws the IDA Awards for 2006 (a position she also held in 2003, 2004 as well as the Chair of the Screening Committee for “Limited Series & Continuing Series” for the 1999- 2002 IDA Awards and a Blue Ribbon Juror for the IDA Awards.  In addition, she was Co-Chair of the “1999 and 2004 IDA Awards Gala” and the “17th Annual Nominees Reception” (March 1999) for the Academy Award Documentary Nominees as well as Chair the 1999 though 2003 “Documentaries from A to Z” seminar series.  She is a former member of the Board of Directors for the American Association of Producers (which merged with the Producers Guild of America and is a member of that organization).  She is also a member of the Federation of Commercial and Audiovisual Libraries (FOCAL), Women in Flim and CLEAR, Inc.

 

Currently Barbara is Vice President and CFO of Miller-Gregson Productions, Inc. a Los Angeles based Production Company, which she co-founded.
