"Emma!" Sarai sounded concerned.  Emma opened her eyes to see why and noticed she had run out of bandages a while ago.  She had just be wrapping her hand around Sarai's arm again and again.
"You were looking at my memories weren't you?" Sarai asked, not looking her in the eye.  Emma nodded.  Sarai pulled her arm away and stared at the ground.  Emma tried to guess what she was thinking but couldn't.
"You wanted to know about him?"
"You wouldn't tell me."
Sarai kept staring at the ground and she nodded.  Emma could understand why she hadn't wanted to talk about her past.  Whatever Firepants had been doing, it had to be pretty bad.  It also explained her distaste for her powers.  The silence grew long and awkward, so Emma stood up and walked towards Eddie.  Apparently, she had not learned her lesson about curiousity just yet.  She still wanted to know more about this tall, English boy.  She found herself strangely attracted to him.  He seemed to give off that vibe.  Perhaps that young child had been her.  No, it couldn't be.  She had seen pictures of herself as a child.  Yet still, perhaps if she...
"Deep in thought?" Eddie asked with a grin that made Emma's knees a little weak.  A thought in the back of her head brought to her attention very quickly the secrets he had been hiding.  Her curiousity over-powered her crush and she was once again skeptical of his motives.
"Only about your memories.  Anything returning yet?"
"N...Avana!"  Eddie looked to the sky suddenly.  Emma was a bit slower.  Was he trying to distract her?  Unfortunately for Avana, he wasn't at least not intentionally.  In the air, Emma could make out the figure of Avana with her large axe, but there was someone up there with her.  Someone else with wings.
"Is it a nightmare?"
"I think so.  We've got to get up there to help her somehow."
"I don't think that's going to be an issue." Eddie noted as the other person dodged Avana's axe and landed a swift kick to her left side.  It may have been painful, but that was not the worst part.  Somehow, the attacker had managed to disable the left wing.  Avana began a slow free fall.  Her other mechanical wing could do little but turn her body around as she fell.
"Wings!  Where are my wings when I need them!"  Emma wished.  She tried to change her fox tail into wings, but only managed to fluff the fur a little bit.  Eddie was running as fast as he could manage.  Avana got close enough to recognize his face before she pushed against the ground with her magic.  She hovered above Eddie for a moment before lowering to the ground.
"And people call me a witch," she muttered as she examined her side.  Eddie noticed the other person was coming closer.
"Umm, Avana?"
"Busy."
"AVANA!"
"Oh yeah!  The jerk!  You might want to step back."  Eddie obeyed as Avana began to swing her axe around and around.  She threw it up into the air with all the force she could muster then added speed with her powers.  The axe hit it's target with such force that it knocked the other person upwards for a few moments before both began to fall to the ground.  Avana watched as both fell.  She let the person get much closer to the ground than she herself had before she caught both the axe and the attacker mid-air.
Emma and Eddie could see now just how young this child looked.  At the same time, she looked older because of her skimpy outfit and evil glare.  Of course the demon tail and wings helped as well.
"Unhand me!  Right now!  Oooh!  You guys are in for it now!  Lover is going to eat you alive!"
"Hey!  You attacked me!  Not the other way around," Avana pointed out.  "Where's Sarai?  She okay?"
"Yeah.  She's resting."
"You guys left her alone!"
"Lover is coming!  YAY!" cried out the demon child.  She flapped her little demon wings but couldn't break Avana's hold.  "Grr!  Let me go!  LOVER!  Where is he?  He sends me ahead to tell you guys he's coming then takes his sweet time in getting here.  You are gonna wish you had gone splat when lover gets here girly!  Ooh boy!  You are in trouble!"
"Shut up."  Avana gave her a glare to match and strangely the child obeyed.  "I'll hold her here.  Eddie go check on Sarai!"
"The princess?  Ooh no.  They won't kill her.  Only eat her!"  the demon child said.  Avana ignored her, but Emma wanted to know more.
"Eat her?  Wouldn't that kill her?"
"Not when a nightmare eats you," the demon child said, with a rather large grin.  "You just get taken to Lover!  That's worse though!  Ooh yes!  Much worse."
"The nightmares attack Sarai.  I thought you said they won't kill her?"
"Ooh yes!  They have to eat her somehow.  They are just trying to injure her!  Ooh!  Four-eyes is coming back!  No princess with him!  HAHA!"
This caught Avana's attention and she looked to see Eddie running towards them.  Avana panicked and lost her focus.  The demon child fell to the ground with the thud.  Fortunately, Emma had a flash of brilliance and she sat on the demon child before she could get up.
"GET OFF ME!  Ooh boy!  I'm gonna hurt you!  Get off me NOW!"
"Not if you're going to keep talking like that I'm not," Emma said.  She bit her lip, wondering if that tail would hurt.  "OWW!"  It did.  "Quit it!"
"Get off me!"
"No!  Stop hitting me!"  Emma said, trying to catch the tail before it hit her again.  It came back and smacked her on top of the head.  "Oww!  Stop!"
"Ooh no!  Not until the fat girly gets off me!  Ooh ow!  My spleen!  Get off!"
"Shut up both of you!" Avana said.  She turned to Eddie who looked out of breath.
"Where's Sarai?"
"I...I don't know.  She wasn't there when I got back.  If she was in trouble I would have had a vision!"
"Not if you were having a vision of someone else getting attacked at the time."  The wicked voice filled the air.
"LOVER!  I knew he'd come!  Ooh yes!"
The others turned to face the voice.
