Hello again. As I promised, I am finally adding another review. This is a game that you may or may not have heard of. It is an ok game for the first few minutes and then falls into the same things over and over again. But I am getting ahead of myself. I had actually overlooked doing an article on this game until one of my loyal fans, a Mr. W. Jon Es, brought it to my attention. I immediately decided to get to work on it as soon as I finished reading his letter. Well, short story even shorter, the review is here, so lets get on with it. I can't remember too much about the game at the moment because it has been so long since I have indulged myself with its awesomes. To correct this slight problem, I am listening to the main theme song from the game on repeat until I finish typing this review, so pardon me if I break into song and dace, much like the main villians in the game. Once again I am getting ahead of myself. Let's begin with the basics of the game shall we? The story of the game as best I can remember is as follows: Goeman and his fat little friend, for the sake of the review I will call him Nolan, wake up in their little shack thing in the middle of town and find that some huge thing is floating over the castle in the middle of the city. So for some reason or another, they go to Mt. Fuji to find some guy with an extendable pipe for Goeman to use in battle and to cross gaps. Yes, that's right, Goeman fights with his trusty pipe, and yes, it is the kind of pipe one would normally smoke tobacco in. Nolan, however, has a wooden mallet for his weapon, but sadly I used him all of 4 times in the entire game. Both of them are also able to thorw money as a long distance attack, but why you would wastes your money trying to hit moving targets at afar is beyond me (although Goeman gets an upgrade so he can blow 5 gold things all at once to throw an flaming coin that you have to use to solve a couple of puzzles, I think). Anyway, after you get the extendable pipe, you go into the palace to save I guess it would be an emporer or something from some incredibly feminine looking guy dressed as some sort of mime thing. But he catches you off guard becaus he has some giant fire breathing stone head that he uses to distract you while he leaves. After killing off the head thing, you talk to the emporer, and he tells you that you just met one of the members of some group called The Peach Mountain Bandits (or something like that). And then you set off again to stop this group of evil mime looking things. Once you are well out of town, however, you recieve an invaluable tool, or so it would seem, as you pick up some conch shell horn, and when you blow it, you summon this giant gay looking but powerful robot with its own theme song. You and Nolan hop inside and then you are in controll of the robot. You have to jump over pits and destroy towers and gay crap like that because the more times you fall here, the less health you have in the upcoming battle. At the end of this road thing, you see this giant samuri warror bot, who is controlled by our gay looking mime friend from the palace (and I don't mean the emporer), who is still mad at you for callinmg him a stooge or a bafoon or something increadibly gay like that that you hear about any time you see this guy. Anyway, now it goes to a cockpit view of the gay robot you have and the battle is much like the game punch out except I usually just shoot my money at him unitl he lowers his guard or something and the use the robot's giant pipe to grab the boss like Sorpion from Mortal combat and then just beat the B'Jesus out of him until he breaks free. Anyway, after you destroy the robot, I can't remember if the mime dies or not, but it doesn't matter because there are two other ones anyway. Now you would think it is a really short game because Goeman and Nonal can now storm the flying castle thing and kill the Peach Mountain mime people, but this was one of only three time in the game that you get to use your robot, and the other two aren't for a long time. So you go around on foot and as you are questing, you get two more teammates, some spy chick and a little robot Ninja who is the coolest of the characters (I'll refer to these two as Andrew and Adam, heh.), and you also get a dragon thing who will take you to various places on the map once you have visited them. This is not a walkthrough, so I think I'll just leave the game to you. Now for my ratings: Graphics- pretty good though very cartoony; I really can't complain about them because I have definately play through games with worse graphics Control- good if you like the control style for Mario 64; I particularly like this control style because many games tend to use it (especially the older one) and I have grown used to it over the other control styles that other games use Fun- well this is a pretty good game for fun; I can't think of any other game where you can body surf down the side of Mt. Fuji, though it is incredibly easy and you can probably beat it without ever getting game over unless you totally suck. Over all- this is a good game, although it looks like it intended for the same age group as Diddy Kong Racing and the jokes in it are incredibly gay; I think it deserves an "E" for effort and I'll give 7 out of 10. |
