Water flows from four outflow lines into Lake Pontchartrain during a test by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers at the 17th Street Canal in New Orleans, Monday, Aug. 27, 2007. The pumps are used to move water in the canal around closed floodgates. During a hurricane event the gates would be closed keeping water from entering the canals and overtopping the levees.

Sometimes there are moments when your photos do not appear at the Yahoo News Photos. Like after the photo of you on August 10, 2007, it was vacuum for several days, and what I found were the photos of New Orleans flood gates dated 27 August 2007, since it matches the keyword of "gates".

Nevertheless it is worth to display those photos here, since it is related with the bitter historical moment when New Orleans drowned after hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Besides, it is quite a relief to see the flood gates in operation again, thank to the work of Army Corps of Engineer. It is refreshing to see the stream of water flow securely through the improved flood gates.

Software tycoon Bill Gates gave his backing to a new initiative unveiled by Brown to tackle killer diseases in developing countries. Gates is among high-profile supporters of the plan, which Brown said aims to ensure funds pledged to poorer countries are directed toward treating patients, instead of becoming tied up in bureaucracy. His program, backed by Germany, Canada, Norway, France, Italy and the Netherlands, is part of a wider drive to speed progress toward meeting the U.N. Millennium Development Goals.

Also during the vacuum of your photos at Yahoo News Photos, there were the photos of British PM Gordon Brown dated 5 September 2007, during an International Health Partnership meeting, Wednesday Sept. 5, 2007. It was mentioned that "….software tycoon Bill Gates gave his backing to a new initiative unveiled by Brown to tackle killer diseases in developing countries."

Among those photos, PM Gordon Brown was with Britain's Secretary of State for International Development Douglas Alexander. It was after my previous letter of "035 072 8 6 0 1" dated 1 September 2007 that contains my saving account numbers.

The last name of Mr. Douglas Alexander reminds me with my old friend in the senior high school Alex Sujudi who often placed his saving account number in the mailing list of my ex-senior high school friends. He does that to encourage my friends to give charity since he is a member of the board in the mosque located inside the yard of my senior high school.

Especially during this fasting month of Ramadhan which will end on 12 October 2007, where such charity becomes more meaningful since in this holy fasting month the value of every good deed will be multiplied 700 times. Of course this 700 times is more about the value of good deed that will be evaluated in the eternity. Inevitably there are also those who wish that such multiplying effect will not only for the eternity, instead also to become some kind of return in this world.

For example, if you donate US $ 1million, then the return would hopefully amounted US $ 700 million, or slightly higher than the record fine of US $ 613 million that you should pay to EU Regulator after the EU's Court of First Instance dismissed Microsoft Corp.'s appeal against an EU antitrust order. When I wrote the draft of this part, some rather heavier wind blown, I have no idea whether it was some kind of “Solomon wind sending green light from God” or just an ordinary wind. But then again, the 700 times is more about the value of good deed that will be evaluated in the eternity, not in this world.

After awarding you with an honorary degree a few months ago, European Union Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes now set a Record Fine of US $ 613 million toward your Microsoft company, the largest ever levied by EU regulators. Not so fine a record.

I wish after that you could soon gain similar amount from any sources to replace it.
