02/17/03 Cloutier Named NHL Player of the Week CANUCKS.COM Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks are pleased to announce that goaltender Dan Cloutier has been named NHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 16th. Cloutier posted a 2-0-1 record, a 1.28 goals-against-average, and a .952 save percentage last week. Cloutier began the week by stopping 22 of 23 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on February 10th and followed up with a 2-1 win in overtime over the Colorado Avalanche (21 saves) on February 13th. He closed the week by making 37 saves in a 2-2 tie at Calgary on February 15th. He ranks second among all NHL goaltenders with 28 wins. He is three wins from tying his career high for a season (31 in 2001-02). The 26-year old native of Mont-Laurier, Quebec is undefeated in his last seven starts (4-0-3) and has posted a 1.78 goals-against average and .938 save percentage during that stretch. Cloutier becomes the first Canucks player to be named NHL Player of the Week this season. He was named NHL Player of the month for November. This is the second time in his career that Cloutier has been named NHL Player of the Week (March 18/02). |

Cloutier also captured the League's top honor as NHL Player of the Month for November. Cloutier, edged Ottawa Senators goaltender Patrick Lalime (2-1-0, 0.67 goals-against average), Detroit Red Wings' right wing Brett Hull (3-4-7 in three games) and Colorado Avalanche center Peter Forsberg (0-7-7 in three games) for the award.
