                Process

1. Using a camera, take
8-12 pictures depicting your topic.  Remember to stick to one theme.  You are going to tell a story.

2. Next, have your film developed.  Computer generated pictures are welcome.  Pictures already developed can also be used.

3.Create your rough draft.  Mount the pictures, one picture per page, on the top of notebook paper.  Write your rough draft on the bottom. Be sure to include an explanation for each picture.  Each paragraph should be
3 to 5 good complete sentences.  Remember to avoid over-using pronouns.  Skip lines and use the back of the notebook paper if needed.  Double check that your name is on each notebook paper and that it is numbered.  Remember, you are writing a stroy, so think about the order your pictures should be in before you start.

4.
All rough drafts are due on the Monday following Thanksgiving Weekend. You can turn in the rough draft ahead of schedule.  The draft will be edited and returned to you to make the final corrections.  No typed pages at this time.

5. When the rough drafts have been returned to you, make all the needed corrections and revisions.  Next,
type your story.  Mom and Dad can help with the typing.  Remember that each paragraph must be on the bottom portion of the page and the picture mounted above it.

6. Let me know if you do not have access to a computer or typewriter.  We can work something out at school.
I have to be notified ahead of time of any problems to accommodate you at school.

7. Create a title page that includes a title, dedication and your name.  A dedication is a place to thank people who are special to you that helped with this project.

8. Finally, design a cover that reflects your story.  Be creative, colorful, and unique.  Another photo may be added. This will be turned in by the final date.

9.
Your final project due date is listed on the homepage, but can be turned in early.

10. Listed below is the rubric to grade the Photo Essay Project.  Good Luck!  Have fun creating your photo essay.
