TRADITIONALIST
The roots of America's ideals and documents have caused a great uproar between traditionalists and secularists in recent years. To understand my point, all one has to do is watch the news and see it unfold. We've removed the "Ten Commandments" monument, the controversy of gay marriage, the attempt to reopen the Roe versus Wade case, etc. All of these issues have rekindled a cultural war which has been as contentious as ever.
Secularists seemingly do not want the appearance of Christian morality guiding our laws because they believe it conflicts with the separation of church and state. Traditionalists want to keep Christian morality in our laws because it creates ethical balance. Without moral laws to guide the United States, we would have chaos and then no one would be able to give any classification of morals!
If we follow the secular view as we have in the past few decades, then we will continue to fall apart and become a grim image of what we once were!
So which way is right? It is simply irrational for both sides to be correct. Do we lean conservative or liberal based upon what we believe the Constitution and other historical documents say, or do we just go by what our hearts tell us? Where do we go to draw accurate and factual conclusions?
In cases like this, an educated person would trace his steps and study our country's historical documents to edify himself about the case. To our luck, I will reveal a portion of the abundant documents that I consider necessary to make this case!
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." - John Adams
"It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." - George Washington
"We've staked the whole future of American civilization not on the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us...to Govern oursleves according to the commandments of God. The future and success of America is not in this Constitution, but in the laws of God upon which the Constitution is founded.." - President James Madison
After looking at these documents, it appears that our past leader's interpretation of the Constitution is in favor of traditionlists such as myself. But the question needs to be answered, what does separation of Church and State mean if the secular view is wrong? It means that not a single denomination oversees the state. However, that did not eliminate the principles of Christianity and the laws which it is founded by!
