This is right before my appointment for my chop. I wore my wig the last week with this style underneath. How many naps can you see?
Rod Roller Set with Cornrow Braids
This is my first natural style. A roller set with cornrow braids on top. The stylist, Millicant, used the perm rod rollers (the blue ones) and separated each 3-4 times after it was dry using Jaimaican Loc and Twist Creme. I loved this style. I wore it for nine days. I tried to keep it longer, but my scalp was begging for water. One week later below. The style is fuller and froing up.
Afro Puffs
My sister did these on damp hair with Proclaim Aloe Gel. I didn't like the parts. Can you see the squares and triangles.?
Two Strand Twists
Afro puffs with headbands. I have to use a trouser sock head band to hold the puff, then use the decorative headbands. This has become my favorite style. Easy to maintain. Tie down at night, spritz in the morning with either water or ARDD or both.
My Disastrous Roller Set
I wanted to see if I could replicate my first natural style done by a stylist. The cornrow braids with the rod roller set. I braided the front, got my parts nice and straight. Very proud of myself for that. I rolled each section applying some shea butter lotion before combing out. I rolled the back quite nicely. When I took the rollers out, I had a chunky fro. Curls in some spots, but definitley not alot. I didn't let my failure get me down. I took some bobby pins to make the front stand up a little, used one of my new bra strap head bands and turned the style around. I posted these pictures in keeping with the spirit of showing some of the bad hair days.
Two Strand Twists and a Twist Out
I twisted the back and left the braids in the front. I was proud of my braids and straight parts. I conditioned wash the back and water rinsed the braids. Let it dry. I used the Jamaican Loc and Twist Creme. I really liked the way they held my twist and made them shiny. Three days later, I took the braids down and put the two strand twists all over. I used my bra strap head bands and head wraps for accessories. I wore this style for a week and then tried a twist out. I left some of the top twisted.
This is my second set of twists. To do my twists this time, I put my hair in four sections after a conditioner wash and detangling. This created a part down the middle of my head this time. So I have a different look from the last set of twists. I pulled one of the twists to show my length and my friend "Shrinkage."
