Environment Club

What is the Environment Club? It is one of the most active clubs at Zayed University. It works with all the topics about the environment and tries to solve all environmental problems. It started in 2000, and has 20 members. The three most important responsibilities of the club’s members are: attend meetings, complete all work, and deal politely with other club members.      The Environment Club’s door is open to all students from different levels and majors who are interested in the environment.

The Environment Club does different types of activies, both on and off campus. For example, they:    Participated in the Inter College Public Speaking Competition in October 2001in Dubai    Participated in Nuaimi Foundation in Ajman    Gave a speech at the Tourism Impact on Marine Flora and Fauna in the UAE Competition    Were chosen by  the College of Media Sciences Journalists to work with TV, radio, and newspaper in Dubai Media City.           At ZU, the Environment Club participated in Zayed Free Zone by bringing animals like a snake and a horse to the campus, and on Clubs Day the club worked in ZU travel and tourist affairs. The Environment Club members meet once every two weeks or weekly if there are any special events. The biggest challenge that the Environment Club faces is time and place management. The club members had to do everything on time even though they had no office. Noora Alsuwaidi, the club President, said that club members do not leave things to the last minute.

Money that is spent in the budget of the Environment Club comes from the members and from companies that deal with the club. However, sometimes these companies and the university serve the club for free. The Environment Club raises a lot of money and knows how to use it. For example, in the Zayed Free Zone the Environment Club raised 5,000 Dhs.      There are lot of  special things about the Environment Club. Students who want to be active, help their studies, and meet other people should join the Environment Club.
