Theatre Club

Theater club has many activities such as plays,  making posters, designing decorations and dancing during university events.      Mainly theater club members act in  Arabic plays. Members create and get stories from the famous writers and books and use them as

plays. Members and the club advisor choose the plays and sometimes the coordinator decide if the plays if they are useful or not. The last play which they did for Zayed Free Zone was called Oweshellah. It was about the UAE society and Emirati people and culture. Other plays are  mostly about problems and situations that students may face in the the university.

The Theater Club started in 1998, but it wasn’t an official club until 1999. Now It includes about 15 members from different academic levels and majors. The current advisor is  Ola Mushref.      Members meet  each other  daily before the events such as National Day, Zayed Free Zone, clubs day, Ramadan, Eid and other events. Also  they make some posters, lectures, magazines, invitations and  advertisements for the events and also  encourage the students to join the club. In other meetings which are once or twice per week, members try to plan their activities. Also they will decide what they need for the  next events by sharing the idea and opinions. Usually they meet in the auditoriums or in the class. It depends on the time and the plans.

There are two ways to prepare the equipment and needs of theater club activities. The first way is to collect the money from the members or members have their own equipment. The equipment  can be clothes, decorations, pen colors..etc. The second way is to use the money which the finance department gives to the club. Then members return the extra money to the finance department.      Students who would like to join the theater club should have the ability to cooperate with the members. Students should know that experience and practices in the theater club will be written in their graduation files.

Theater club has many different rules for the students who want to join the club. Students should have the talent of acting and be available to join the meetings on time. Students have to accept criticism and be ready to discuss. Moreover, the attendance to the club shouldn’t have any bad effects on the students studies.      Members in theater club also have their responsibilities. Members should leave the place of meeting clean without brining their laptops and food during the meeting. So it will be easy and interesting  to join the club, if you  follow the rules and do your responsibility.
