The Central North Island Youth Pipe Band is made up of young pipers and drummers from all round the Central North Island, from Paeroa to Gisborne and everywhere in between. The band meets every school holidays for a week long camp. Tutors from some of New Zealand's top bands come along, and at the end of each camp the band usually does a play out to showcase their immense talents.

Membership

Membership is open to any piper or drummer under 18 years of age, residing in but not limited to the Central North Island (CNI) District. Members should also be able to play standard settings:
e.g. 3/4, 4/4, 6/8, and 2/4 brackets

Uniforms of home bands are worn for the Youth Band play outs.

Objectives

The band's objective is to provide a quality development program for young pipes and drummers in the CNI District, in a wide range of skills including High levels of performance.
