| John O'Toole | PC | Access to adoption records is a very sensitive issue. I understand the impact it has on adoptees, birth parents and adoptive parents. Our government has worked hard to improve the process of reuniting families and we have provided additional funding to reduce the number of people waiting for a search for their birth relative.
We will continue to work to ensure that adoption disclosure services are met in a timely manner. While there is currently no plan for greater access to be granted to adoption records in our campaign platform, The Road Ahead, we will continue to be open to debate on these issues. In my own opinion, I do support open and accessible records going forward from today. Thank you for the opportunity to respond. |
