Dear Daughter,
"I must thank you for the first lines in your last letter-"My very dear Father I love you so much. Yes, I do! I pray God to bless you and keep you."
"I hear the still small voice, "Be of good cheer. I will never forsake you." To pray about it would, it seem to me would be to doubt His blessed words. To believe it is all that is needed. Here is peace and rest and salvation. Buried with Him in baptism and rise in His life. Take up your cross daily and follow Me and lo I am with you to the end of the world.
"His teaching do not correspond with the teaching of the churches Catholic or Protestants. Shall I find faith on the earth when I come he says I will send my angels and gather mine elect from the four winds of the earth not to some church or may church.
"I am following Christ Jesus without any church because they as good as deny His healing power and command to hear the sick not by faith not by medicine. They put drugs and the wisdom of man in the place of the power of the Lord. He that keep not my word is life a man that build his house on the sand. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away!
"I do not dare to follow but with Christ Jesus only dear daughter, and go by His word that I can't find in any church.
"Christians are subject to sickness and death the same as the natural men and women. Yes, now helpless they are when sickness or trouble come. Testify of His word about healing, against trusting in medicine and they are offended. They don't want to hear it. So I can't join with them my very sweet girl. Divine healing is not just healing the body. Its a part of salvation God's plan of love to His children. It reaches the soul as well as the body and is a part of making the new creature when old things have passed away and all things have become new. Passed from death unto life. Read about it in the New Testament. The words that shall not pass away my sweetheart daughter.
"I'm just telling you the way I'm going, and let you go your way just as willingly as I would go my way."
Traveling Preacher
Letter:
"I have become tired of writing letters and spending so many 3 cents that I need for my table. Beside the time it takes that I need for other things you said in you letter you enclosed a stamp but when you closed it you forgot all about the stamp. There was no stamp.
"It is many months since I heard from Helen. I did not answer her letter of six months ago will this month. Her voice came to me about 2 weeks ago and she said, "I am weary of life but I will press on and do my best." That pretty fine, grand!
"About the 1st of September I start for Alabama all given up to preaching and healing the sick and heartening the poor and needy that are trusting the Lord, those that are not trusting Him are doomed. I think Satan has got them and a great [number] of those that are trusting- the way they do it.
"I have my traveling bag packed ready to start afoot. I am anxious to be off, glad to be doing the blessed work for the master. I go in His might. "I have good clothes and some money from selling my things.
Jan. 28, 1935, Terry Arkansas
"Dear Daughter Maud,
"I have surely had time enough to answer your letter of December 16, 1933.
"The two or three of my letters have come to you from your sister Leah has helped some in my favor. I hope you can excuse my neglect and the circumstances, dear daughter.
"I am writing today in my log cabin that I built to have a warm room for winter. It's not "the little old log cabin in the lane." It's "the little old log cabin on the hill." It's been very cold, freezing every day for two weeks or more, but it will not be long now until the flowers will begin to show their pretty faces everywhere about the hill, thousands of them. In the yard and garden I have roses, verbena, honeysuckle, medearia, morning glory and others. The birds, too. the blue jay, redbirds and other pretty birds.
"The children come to see me all so sweet and loving. They are children till 15 to 18 to those they like and to those that like them. Many of them are this way. The boys too are about the same.
"I thank you much for the snapshots of the 4 children, Blanchell, Darral, Ervie, Leona.
"It's too bad you have such poor health. Reading the Bible with the view to get health, I think, would help you. Study, learn to discover health in a spiritual way instead of material ways.
"My good health and strength is from faith in God as all we need. Life, truth and love is ever present to make every need possible if we give up our own ideas and have the mind of Christ and do as He says. Read it for yourself in the New Testament.
"I don't belong to any church. They are all opposed to Christ's way. Who can say I have a friend that loves me as they love themselves as the scriptures say?
"I don't want to preach to you. You have your religion. It is probably as good as anything in the world and better than many creeds, I think. Dear daughter Leah speaks much in her letters about the beauty and wonderful things of the church service- long prayers and prayers to Mary to help them. But the word of the Lord is different. A very few read and study and gain much from His words.
"It is good that your children take to music and other interests. I hope I shall hear from some of your large family in years to come. I shall be alive and well after the great grandchildren are married. Yes, I shall if God permit. I think He will.
"I received a letter from my granddaughter, Helen, that has been in Downers Grove and now in Minneapolis. She has recently married to a minister. I call her my princess. She says, "Thank you dear grandfather for the flowers tucked in your good letter-bless your heart! and also your sweet little rhyme and your sweet way of loving your princess. You are a dear grandfather. If I were there I would hug you tight, so I would!"
"Well, dear Daughter, I say good-bye and God bless you and yours.

Florida
In Dec. of 1936, he began the last year of his life in Jacksonville, FL.
"My very dear daughter, I have just moved again to the Christian Center. I have rented a room of them and therefore my time is my own. I think I shall do well with my toy furniture, clocks, etc. As soon as I can spare the time to make them I will send you some of them and a special one for my new friend, Mr. Jones. I appreciate much what you say of him. Thank him for the 25 cents he kindly sent me with your 25 cents. It comes in so good, just in the nick of time. Thank you both and thank the Giver of all good. We'll praise God from whom all blessings flow.
