Post Op Journal, Let the Journey Begin... |
July, 22, 2002 - (Monday) I'm back from vacation and I had a really nice time. FL was very hot and rainy but we had a fabu time. DisneyWorld was just way too hot for me. I started sweating the second I got out of the car and I had hoped things would be sooooo different now that I'm 100 pounds lighter but, alas, I'm still a big girl and when it's 95-100 degrees out, everyone sweats!!! lol Oh well, maybe one day, I won't sweat profusely, but right now, I still am getting napkins from every concession stand and using every one of them!!!! I do have good weight news, I'm down another 4.5 pounds and I'm officially down 105 pounds!!!! woo hoo!!! That certainly makes me happy. That's a lot of weight for me to lose in the 10 days. My weight loss has been slower than that lately, but I guess, I was snacking less, while I was away and maybe that did the trick. I know my consumption of pretzels has increased, so I will try to stay off them and see if I can continue the weight loss. I know if you follow the rules of protein first and drink your water and take your vitamins, we are bound to suceed, so I will try to do that and see what happens. I might update later, I'm at work right now and just wanted to quickly jot a note...till next time.. July 26, 2002 - (Friday) Wow, this week has flown. Really busy catching up since I was away. Right now I'm working from the beach and it's an overcast day - 66 degrees. Amazing that's it's July and it's sweatshirt weather. Had all my vitamins already today, haven't started my water yet (it's now 1:40 p.m.) and am eating a 1/2 PB&J sandwich. It's amazing that I can keep that down, I hadn't been able to...I guess I'm graduating to "regular" food. I'm sure as this occurs, I will have to get better about policing what I eat so that I don't over do it...but so far, so good. No weighing while I'm at the beach, so not sure what the scale says today. I should hop on my bike today, since the weather is so cool. Hope I can report doing that another day. I'm not going to be updating this page as frequently as I have been. I don't feel I'm getting that much out of writing this online journal, I get absolutely no feedback (positive or negative) and ultimately, I started doing it solely for documenting my progress for my own benefit. Basically, I'm on track with my progress, the coming 6 months or so are going to be slower with the weight loss and there will be little to report on. Lately, every time I update it's like "same ole - same ole" so it's repetitive and kinda boring. I will continue to update with progress pictures, but the narrative part of the journal might be reduced to a couple times a month. I will update if something actually happens that is worth writing. Sooooo with that said, check back around the 11th or 12th of every month for updated pictures to see my progress. I'm sure I'll continue with the pictures through my 1st anniversary and beyond -- that's my favorite part of the month, documenting how much weight I've lost and seeing a difference from last month's snapshot, even if it's only 5 pounds. I'd like to still lose a minimun of 30 more pounds (but hoping for an additional 50), so I've got a lot to still lose, so I'll be around for awhile longer. This WLS journey has been absolutely an amazing one. The physical transformation has been very rewarding, however, the overall gift of "being in control" with food, for the first time in my life, has been the ultimate prize. Oh well, till next time... August 7, 2002 - (Wednesday) I've been gone awhile and updating really quickly on what's been happening lately. I finally began my exercise again (I had been slacking off since I returned from vacation). I rode my bike all weekend, 5 miles each day, and now I'm back to walking on my treadmill when I'm not at the beach. I'm still holding onto 105 pounds lost, so weight has remained stagnant but it is what it is. I can't stress over the lack of pounds lost. I'm sure they will disappear at some point but on a low, depressed day, I feel like my body is failing me and I'm going to remain a large person. I only hope and pray that is untrue and look forward to the coming months of a slow but constant weight loss. I'm having some problems with carpal tunnel with my left hand, feels like my pinky and ring finger are no longer mine. Sheesh, it's really painful and annoying, so typing is a huge problem. I hope it subsides, I'm really trying to be aware of my sitting and typing position and trying to be ergonomically minded. Ugh, life is tough...lol. My 8 month anniversary is Sunday, so I will update again then. Hope all is well with you all and drop me a line if you have any questions. Until next time.... |
