Sounds from The Underground

Below are some audio clips that will be used in the new Jubilee Line Extension stations

The voices that will be heard in the JLE stations are those of professional voice over artists and actors who were specifically chosen for the clarity of their speech. The Underground reviewed a number of different artists before selecting two male and two female voices who spoke clearly and had little or no detectable regional accent. The words and phrases spoken by the artists were digitally recorded and segmented prior to storage on a computer. The appropriate message can then be typed into the computer which will then piece together the message from the words and phrases, the operator may then review the message in any of the four voices recorded on the system. Once the operator is satisfied with the message it can then be broadcast to the station public areas. The operator can program the computer to replay up to ten different messages at pre-defined intervals in any location across a station.
