What is food science?
Food science has been described as the science -- and art -- of getting food from the farmer's gate to the dinner plate. This involves more science than you might think. Chemistry, biochemistry, engineering... we apply all of these and ot hers. Here in our department we conduct research into new product development, food quality and nutrition improvement, thermal processing, process automation, and more. So if you enjoy science, chances are you'll find an area of food science that will interest you. What's more, you'll find a job as well. Many people don't realize that the food industry as a whole is the largest employer in the United States. So take a look at our page and see what we have to offer. We've prepared some tasty morsels for you.
