POLITICAL ECONOMY (a student’s guide which consists of topics of the lectured subjects, tests/exams with sample solutions, statistics of the classroom grades, and links to economic sites).

I have been teaching Political Economy to the classrooms of the first year of Law studies of the Lisbon University of School of Law (Faculdade

de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa) since the 1994-1995 school year, with some exceptions: i) in the 1997-1998 school year (in which I was a Senior Lecturer and Coordinating Teacher of this subject at the Bissau School of Law, in Guinea-Bissau); ii) in the 2001-2002 school year, in which I was Aid to the Secretary of State of Tax Affairs in the Ministry of Finance in Portugal; iii) in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 school years.

I like Economic Analysis of Law, namely the work of Judge Richard Posner, and I am currently drafting a Political Economy critique article about Oliver Stone's 1987 film "Wall Street".

TAX LAW AND INTERNATIONAL TAX LAW (links for the student intending to study tax law abroad: directory of tax sites, scholarships, colleges who teach Tax Law at an LL.M. or M.B.A. level, tips on writing for graduate school admission, Educational Testing Services, the United States Department of State and The British Council).

Since the 2002-2003 school year I have been teaching Tax Law II (International Tax Law) to the classroom students of the fourth year of law studies of the Lisbon University of School of Law (Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa).  I have also been lecturing on taxation at post-graduate level. I have an LL.M. from the Lisbon University School of Law (Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa) where I have studied "Tax Law and International Tax Law" and on 9 July 2003 I have discussed my thesis ("The Madeira Free Zone").

I am a Specialist Lawyer in Taxation by the Portuguese Bar Association. Formerly, I have worked as Aid to the Secretary of State of Tax Affairs in the Ministry of Finance in Portugal and, before that, as a Tax Manager for Ernst & Young, as Senior Lecturer and Coordinating Teacher of "Public Finance and Tax Law" at the Bissau School of Law, and as a Tax Consultant at Arthur Andersen & Co.

I am also working on a paper concerning this subject matter ("Labor Law and Secondment Situations").

GUINEA-BISSAU LAW (Legislation and links to sites with general information concerning Guinea-Bissau and with specific information concerning the Organizations of Economic Integration to which this country belongs).

In the 1997-1998 school year I was a Senior Lecturer and Coordinating Teacher of "Political Economy", "Public Finance and Tax Law" and "Economy of Guinea-Bissau" at the Bissau School of Law, in Guinea-Bissau, the Portuguese former African colony.  I have written "The New Investment Code of Guinea-Bissau   Analysis of a Draft Code", an article based on a written opinion given at the request of the Ministries of Economy and Finance and Justice, which is published in the Portuguese magazine Ciência e Técnica Fiscal.  I have also helped organized a compendium of Guinean economic legislation.

I am currently researching and writing on Guinean Economic Law, namely on one article concerning this subject matter: "The Guinean Constitution and Economic Integration".
