By the second day of the battle, 2 Para was almost out of ammunition. They had taken 17 dead and numerous wounded and had battled over 48 hours in extreme conditions. Their willingness to continue the battle and press forward along with a Harrier strike that dropped a cluster bomb on the 35 millimetre anti-aircraft guns that were firing directly into the commando positions cause the Argentinian commander to surrender. When the Argentinians started to come forward to lay down their weapons, the Paras were amazed at their numbers. About 600 paratroopers had attacked over 1300 dug in Argentinians and had prevailed.
