On Tuesday February 4, 1997 Mario Lemieux became only the 7th player in NHL history to record his 600th career goal. He acheived this in only 719 games the second fastest to only Wayne Gretzky who did it in 718 games. It came on an empty net goal with less than a minute left in the game to seal the 6-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
