In short, the best ever! While everyone considers him as one of the greatest basketball players ever, most intelligent people have realized that he is the best.
Born in Key West, Fla., on August 6, 1965 to Ambrose and Freda Robinson, he grew up without basketball having a major part in his life. He moved a lot because his father was in the Navy. Instead of the huge part basketball plays in most of today's NBA stars, David filled his youth with doing well in school and fixing electric things (TV's, etc.) around the house. It was not until his high school years that he played organized basketball. Even then, it was not a life altering choice, it was only for recreation.
After high school, he went to the United Stated Naval Academy, not a major basketball school; obviously, basketball was not a major factor in his life at that time. After being an incredible basketball player in the Navy, David Robinson was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs, as the number 1 pick. Instead of going staright to the NBA, he had to stay two years more in the Navy.
So finally the day came; in November of 1989, David set foot on the floor of HemisFair Arena. He made a splash immidiately; in fact, his first block was on the considered great Magic Johnson.
Through the next 7 years, he accomplished many more things. Here is a list of very few of them:
