"Yours truly (Jonathon Phillips) managed to win the
1996 West Australian Men's 5k Walk,
in a time of 23.36, (Which is my P.B. on track)
racing for the University of Western Australia Athletics club (UWAAAC)
before my stress fracture became apparent." "In May, June,
and July I spent some time on the exercise bike at the
Arena gym" "lack of available time and money, combined with
a minor injury to my knee on the 9th of September (which seems to
have now cleared up, apart from some minor twinges.
Praise God!), have made swimming the most viable way of
maintaining some remnant of an aerobic base in
September and October."
"I started to enjoy, and get faster and fitter in my swimming
during October although, I was missing running, racewalking, a
great deal especially when, my 2nd catscan for the year on
the 25th of October, suggested no significant healing yet."
"But I've discussed the situation with my doctor,
and talked with the Master Designer (Creator Triune) about it,
and in November, December I have been training for racewalking
again, which is going well, now to up the intensity and
integrate some cycling, swimming, and running for variety,
also cycling (when I get a decent operational bike or join the
gym again) and swimming to ease my back pain, and right
hip pain. This means about 5-6 sessions a week instead of 3."
"I Praise God! that I have started to get more strength,
stability, and control in the lower back, transverse abdominals
area in the last few months, but I've been getting behind in my
exercises a bit in November, and December but my racewalking
training is going well.
In my first Australian
Championship race as a 15 year old, Brisbane, 1989.
Since 1988 I have been coached by Stan Jones...(the 10th Australian Centurion.)
