GX Desk Pattern is an AppleScriptable system extension that uses QuickDraw
GX graphics to display a pattern on your desktop. Unlike standard system
QuickDraw patterns, you are not restricted to rectangular tilings with each
side being an exact power of 2, and you can superimpose multiple patterns
to produce nonrepeating combinations. You can apply effects like free
rotations and colour shifts, depending on how the pattern is defined
(samples are included). You can also import existing QuickDraw patterns
from Texture Installer.
New in this version: it can now tile a picture into a pattern, and change
the colour of parts of a pattern. Also includes lots more sample patterns
and some more sample scripts.

Ambrosia Software, Inc. has just released Eclipse 3.1.0, which adds a few
features and contains a number of bug fixes.
The following is a list of the new features and bugs that were fixed in
Eclipse 3.1.0:
-- Added Energy Saver controls the the preferences panel.
-- Added option to automatically dim Eclipse when it is launched
(eg, to force users to enter a password at startup).
-- Floating shareware reminder now hides when Eclipse or another
program takes over the screen.
-- Fixed bug where programs which use system-wide floating windows
or even the Eclipse password dialog would might cause Eclipse to cycle
its images very quickly.
-- Eclipse now anticipates when a complex GIF image may crash the
computer and avoids it.

Eclipse is a lean, mean, 100 percent PowerPC native screen saving machine

English-Spanish dictionary is a database for the 'Verbs & Nouns' and 'V&N
Lookup' programs. 'Verbs & Nouns' allows you to add new and modify the
existing entries, add comments to every word, search for the English word
or its Spanish translation. With 'V&N Lookup' you can translate the English
text into Spanish (word-for-word), search for the English or Spanish words,
check the spelling, and add comments to the existing words.
You can download the latest version of 'Verbs&Nouns' and 'V&N Lookup' from

Version 1.5b2 is an upgrade to fix a crash on 68K Macs. Users with
PowerMacs or compatibles do not need to upgrade to this version.
This (formerly commercial) grade management package has been recently
updated and re-released as a freeware program. The commercial version of
the program has been used by hundreds of teachers for several years.
This freeware version includes all the features of the commercial
program, plus a few more (all users of the commercial product are

Gestalt.Appl is a tool that allows you to check all gestalt selectors
posted by Mac OS or by any other piece of software. It is also a
database including information about your system environment. You see
not only some technical infos but also understandable interpretation
of most codes (in English).
As Rene G. A. Ros said in his Gestalt Selectors List, Gestalt.Appl is
the 'official' gestalt hunters tool! Version 2.7.6 was compiled on
15 Aug 1997 and its database was updated the same day. Documentation
is enclosed. If you know about missing information in this program,

Ghost 2.0.1 is a file-hiding/protection utility. Use it to protect
important files on your hard disk. Simply drag any file or folder onto
the Ghost icon and it will disappear instantly. Version 2 allows you to
restore files without the aid of FileTyper and you also no longer have to
remember the file type of the protected file. Ghost is a very small and
very useful program if you have files on your hard disk that you want
kept safe.
New in version 2.0.1:
-Version 2.0.1 fixes a bug that would not allow you to restore a hidden
folder. You can now drag hidden folders from the Find File window onto
the Ghost application to restore them.
-Adds "quicktime movie" to the built-in file types.
-Now automatically restores creator defaults. Images will show up as a
Graphic Converter documents instead of a generic documents when restored.
(Documents can still be opened in other applications.)

Attached is a file called grapple-12.hqx that has a very minor
change from a version I uploaded to macgifts a few weeks ago. I
have not changed the version number as the change is trivial
(a mere toggle of a default setting) but it changes the appearance
of the utility appreciably. Could you please swop the file
info-mac/disk/grapple-12.hqx with this version please?
I do not wish to waste bandwidth announcing the change in the
digests if that is OK.

Electronic Circuit Analysis Program
This Freeware application simulates circuis, and its waveforms as you
would see either on a six-trace oscilloscope, or on a small signal
frequency transfer curve plotter. The application has Mac-Draw like
graphic entry of resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, and all kinds
of dependant or independant sources. Clusters of components can be
assambled to subcircuits.
The number of components in this freeware version is limited to 60.
15 types of independant sources (generators) are available, ranging from
sine, step, pulse, or free (graphically entered) waveforms to those used
in power electronics like pwm inverters and thyristor rectifiers.
The sweep is plotted during the calculation. Intervention is possible to
modify anything in the circuit, then the sweep can be resumed.
Many sweeps can be displayed on one screen to see long term effecets, or
to see what changed after a circuit modification.
HICAP runs on any PPC or 68k mac, even under system 6.

The Speech Utilities are a set of HyperCard externals to give access to the
services of the Macintosh Speech Manager, beyond the limited functions
built into HyperCard 2.3. You can do fully asynchronous multi-channel
speech, control all available voice parameters, use speech dictionaries,
and even generate sound files from the Macintalk Pro voices.
This release contains several enhancements to the demo stack, including
sliders for real-time manipulation of speech parameters while speech is in
progress.

Welcome to Max's Custom 3D Icon Pack! Included are special icons for 15
popular applications. Each icon has been carefully edited to give it a
subtle 3D shade. Once you use Max's Custom 3D Icons, you'll never want
to go back to the old ones! WARNING: Some knowledge of ResEdit is
required. Always make a backup copy of the application!
Open the application whose icons you want to change, and the
corresponding resource file. Select all the resources in the resource
file (Ý-A) and copy (Ý-C) them to the clipboard. Paste (Ý-V) the
resources into the application. When ResEdit asks if you would like to
replace resources with conflicting IDs, click Yes. Save the application.
Repeat as necesary for all the applications that you want to change.
When done, restart your computer, and rebuild the desktop (Hold Ý and
option at startup). When the rebuilding is done, you should see your new
icons.
Bonus! In the Bonus! folder, there are 3D folder icons from 16 popular
applications. To copy the icon to your own folders, Get Info (Ý-I) on
the custom icon folder, select the icon, and copy (Ý-C) it. Then, select
the destination folder, Get Info on it, select its icon, and paste
(Ý-V).

You can also use ARA 3.0 instead of OT/PPP It is better that you don't

Program description:
YP Projectiles is a projectile motion simulator designed for physics
teachers and students. To simulate a trajectory, the user chooses the
initial velocity (magnitude and direction), the vertical displacement
component and the gravitational acceleration. The software then draws the
parabolic trajectory and writes its main characteristics: range, maximum
height reached, etc.
During the simulation, it is possible to display three vectors:
acceleration, velocity and position, and three graphs: acceleration,
velocity and position versus time. Many trajectories can be superposed in
the same window, in the same scale. Trajectories, numerical data and
graphs may be printed or copied to be used in other software. Trajectories
may be also saved as PICT files.
Required Hardware and Software: YP Projectiles runs on any Macintosh
computer with Mac OS 7.0 or later. It needs about 250 Kb on your hard disk
and 1,3 Mb of RAM. The software runs on older Macs with 68000 processors
(Mac Plus, Mac Classic), but simulations are slower.

YP Projectiles est un simulateur de mouvement parabolique destine a
l'apprentissage de la physique. Pour simuler une trajectoire,
l'utilisateur choisit la vitesse initiale (intensite et orientation), la
composante verticale du deplacement et l'acceleration gravitationnelle. Le
logiciel trace alors la forme de la trajectoire parabolique, et affiche ses
principales caracteristiques: portee, hauteur maximale atteinte, etc.
Pendant la simulation, il est possible d'afficher les vecteurs
acceleration, vitesse et position, ainsi que les graphiques de
l'acceleration, de la vitesse ou de la position en fonction du temps.
Plusieurs trajectoires peuvent etre superposees dans la même fenetre, a la
meme echelle. Les trajectoires, les donnees numeriques et les graphiques
peuvent etre imprimes ou copies pour etre utilises dans d'autres logiciels.
On peut egalement enregistrer les trajectoires sous forme de fichiers PICT.
Appareillage requis: YP Projectiles fonctionne sur n'importe quel
ordinateur Macintosh fonctionnant sous MAC OS 7.0 ou mieux. Il necessite
peu d'espace sur le disque rigide (environ 250 Ko) et exige 900 Ko de
mémoire vive. Le logiciel est compatible avec les anciens modeles munis
d'un microprocesseur 68000 (Mac Plus, Mac Classic), mais les simulations
sont plus lentes.
