PBA twinbill in Pampanga
An explosive doubleheader awaits basketball fans in San
Fernando, Pampanga today in the second leg of the
McDonald's-PBA Power Tour at the Pampanga Sports
Complex.
Mobiline and Sta. Lucia Realty, tied at 2-1 and fresh from
inspiring victories, tangle in the 4:15 p.m. curtainraiser, both
hoping to move up the All-Filipino Cup leaderboard. San Miguel
Beer then takes on Formula Shell at 6:30 p.m.
Powered by the troika of No. 1 draft pick Andy Seigle, Glenn
Capacio and Lowell Briones, the Cellulars scored impressive
wins over Pure Foods and Shell after a heartbreaking opening
day setback to Alaska Milk. But Sta. Lucia Realty is deadset on
putting a halt to Mobiline's spree. Aside from his Twin Tower
combination of Jun Limpot and Dennis Espino, coach Chot
Reyes can bank on Jose Francisco, Gerald Esplana and rookie
Jason Webb, the hero in the Realtors' victory over the Beermen
Tuesday.
For their part, San Miguel and Shell hope to get back on the
winning track after separate defeats. Though undermanned, the
Beermen have been responding well under the baton of head
coach Ron Jacobs and the hardcourt leadership of Nelson
Asaytono. The Zoom Masters, on the other hand, will rely on
Benjie Paras, Ronnie Magsanoc and Victor Pablo in their efforts
to even their slate.
A joint project of the PBA and Engr. Dong Gonzales, the
second leg of the McDonald's - PBA Power Tour is a
fund-raising activity for the benefit of the Gov. Lito Lapid
Scholarship Foundation, the Bren Guiao Scholarship Foundation
and the Anao Parish church in Mexico, Pampanga, hometown of
Gonzales.
