op het voordek / on the foredeck
Op de Sail 1997 toonde de Heer Steigstra uit Den Helder een
aantal oude fotos van de Texelstroom. Zijn vader staat in het
midden op foto boven met de grote witte mok terwijl matroos
Kooy op het dekluik zit, ook met een mok. Zon mok
behoorde tot de secondaire arbeidsvoorwaarden en werd
door het Rijk aan de bemanning gegeven. De foto is
genomen op het voorschip en de bemanning leunt tegen de
ankerlier. Schipper Jole staat in zijn kapiteinsuniform links
op de foto. Onbekend zijn de in pak gestoken man en de
jongen met het witte hemd, die ook op de foto onder staan.
Hierop is links weer schipper Jole te zien en geheel rechts de
matroos Gerlsma; de overige vijf personen zijn onbekend.
At the Sail 1997 Mr. Steigstra of Den Helder showed a number of photos
of the Texelstroom. His father was the seaman standing in the middle of
the photo above holding a big white mug, while
seaman Kooy is
sitting on the front hatch also with mug. The
white mug was one of
the perks that was given to the seamen by the
government. The men
are on the foredeck of the ship and lean against
the anchor winch.
Skipper Jole stands to the left wearing the captains
uniform. The
man in a suit to the right is unknown as is the
boy in a white shirt.
Both are also on the lower photo, as is
skipper Jole to the left and
seaman Gerle to the right; the others are unknown.
