There have been Counter Rafter lovers on this page since 9/15/98.

*note*counter may be incorrect, it has reset many times*

The strangest thing happened. As I was watching Wimbledon 1998 I discovered the incredible tennis player Patrick Rafter. I know what everyone's thinking..."Oh it's cause she thinks he's cute." OK I'll admit it, that definitely helps. Honestly though, the characteristic that pushed Andre Agassi down to #2 on my , was Pat's relentless style of play. He never gives up on a point no matter how hopeless it may seem, something I find extremely refreshing after seeing players just watch the ball go by them. He's an excellent athlete with a great personality, a great smile, a cute accent, and extremely good looks. How can anybody help but like him!?! Thanks for visiting my page and please take the time to sign my guestbook!

The Latest On Pat and this Page

Pat disposed of Nicholas Lapenti 7-6(7-3), 6-2, 6-2, but was unable to get past Pete Sampras in the fourth round. The score was 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4. Sampras then moved on to defeat Agassi in the quarter final and will face defending champion Marat Safin in the semifinals. (Go Marat!) I will find out Pat's future tournament schedule a.s.a.p and hopefully get my hands on some new pics!

Nobody have a heart attack...I am updating! Here's what went on in a nutshell. After retiring from the U.S. Open final whenever that was in the first round to Cedric Pioline, we haven't seen our normal Pat. Plagued by a recurring shoulder injury that even surgery didn't seem to help, Pat has re-emerged as one of tennis's elite players amid rumors of retirement. Injuries have been Pat's main opponent for uite some time. It hasn't kept him from winning though. Pat reached the Wimbledon Final for the 2nd year in a row by defeating Andre Agassi before losing in a classic match to Goran Invanisevic 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 2-6, 9-7. He followed up Wimbledon by making the finals of the Canadian Open in Montreal, but lost to Andrei Pavel in the finals. At Cincinatti, Pat once again made the finals, but lost to Gstavo Kuerten 6-1, 6-3. Finally at the RCA Tennis Championships, Pat won after Kuerten retired in the final match. I'll try to keep everyone up to date on the latest, but I'm not making any promises once school starts.

Spain defeated the U.S. by a score of 5-0. Spain will face Australia in the finals which will be held from December 8th until the 10th. The finals will be played on caly, which may give Spain the edge. Of course we all know to never count out the Aussies!

After Pat's great run at Wimbledon he continues on by helping Australia complete a 5-0 sweep of Brazil at the Davis Cup. Australia is defending the Davis Cup title from lat year and will have to wait until next week to find out if they will play Spain or the U.S. Pat competed against Brazil just five days after losing in the Wimbledon finals.
Pat expressed great relief about his play when he said, "After nine months of struggling back with the shoulder, it's really enjoyable."
After his winning on Sunday at the Davis Cup, he two-time Pat peeled his shirt off and threw it into the crowd.

Pat is in the semi-finals of Wimbledon! He has been dubbed the "dark horse" of the tournament by quietly eliminating each of his opponents. He will face Andre Agassi in the semi-final Friday night. A classic baseline player against Pat's serve and volley style should make for a great match. Go Pat!
