Dan and Sabine Tie the Knot
Tweedy usually makes headlines for his antics in the nets or for setting up a meaningful goal, but this time he is in the news for being smart enough to take a beautiful person for his bride. Good going Dan!!
Friday's Contest
The first summer skate started out with a lot of action during warm ups. The Blues had 8 skaters at game time while the Whites only had 6. Koss came out with a blue sweater (That's Canadian for Jersey) so he was told to go white to balance the teams a little. I guess john couldn't hear that with his good eye so he went to the blue bench to give the Blues 9 players and set off the King! Jimmy calmly showed Koss how to put on a white sweater as he balanced off the sides by going over to the White team. Hats off to the King for showing remarkable restraint and patience with Koss. 15 or 20 years ago Jimmy gave out walking papers to many guys for a lot less. Things got a little better as a few more guys showed up to give us 2 full lines.
The game featured some great saves by Stump and the Anvil to keep the meaningful contest scoreless, into the second period. Late in the second period, Eddie yielded to a Beak request. Earlier, Beak had asked the Anvil to let one of his shots go in for a change. Beak fired a snap shot at the lower left corner and Eddie quickly kicked his leg pad out to deflect the puck onto the post where it bounced behind the Anvil where he kicked it in for the only meaningful goal of the game. Whites 1, Blues 0. You should have put on the white sweater Koss!
Henry's Pizza
The King got a ring side seat at Henry's after the game, but the free for all never materialized. When Boris and Beak were ready to leave, there was a whole pitcher of beer left on the table. That is alcohol abuse, so they gave it to a table full of goalies. We know it didn't go to waste. We never had beer left over at the Delphian House. Of course, Spiros never bought a pitcher in 5 years.
Picnic Date is July 17(Not July 24th)
The May 21st Picnic committee meeting was canceled, so we will meet on the Hacksaw Deck or the Granato Villa sometime soon.
Summer Games!
The July skate has been pushed back a week to avoid the 4th of July weekend. July 9.
Don't miss the August game on August 6. Olympic Gold Medal winner Cammi Granato will be in town. I have asked the Duffer Photographer to show up and take pictures for Hockey Card Night.
Bowling was a Huge success!
Duffer candle light bowling was the best ever, thanks to the great prizes provided by Uncle and Clubhouse Designs (630) 616-9357. Everybody went home with at least a shirt and shorts. Beak has some underwear in large sizes that no one would claim, if you are interested, make him an offer. Joe Jr. might be able to find you a shirt or tank top.
Uncle Bob gets ready to knock down more beer bottles with one swing of the arm.
Tweedy hugs his bride to be as the new Mr. and Mrs. Z look the other way.
When can we have another bowling outing? This is way too much fun.
