 5 Months till San Jose!
The Picnic committee meeting was held at the Brinks Beach house last week. Thanks to Natalie and Don for a wonderful evening. The food was great as we feasted on Italian sausage with peppers and onions, followed by great deserts.
Natalie took the ladies for a cruise on the lake after dinner so the 25 year tradition could continue, (a female free picnic committee meeting)
Brinks took the men on a cruise after the ladies returned and they had a road trip committee meeting on the lake under the stars. Results of that meeting are as follows:
Papa will get some air fare quotes and we will return to San Jose for a once in a life time, make that a twice in a lifetime experience this season. We figured we owed it to Doc. You may recall his last trip to San Jose was on crutches, so he didn’t get to skate in the Shark Tank.
Bob Friedlander just returned from his vacation and he promised to give us a date as soon as the schedule comes out.
The July 9th Game
The Blues started the BBT line. (Beak, Boris and Thor) That's 170 years if you are counting. The Whites tried to start a line that had a 14 year old GOD (Grandson Of a Duffer) and a couple of other wingers that gave the line a 25 year average. Beak sent them back for an older trio, only to have Mike Presecky poke one past Eddie Anvil in the first minute. Landry added a Meaningful goal to give the Whites a 3-1 lead after the first period.
The Home advantage in Duffers hockey comes with the location of the home bench. It gives you first right of refusal of late players. (usually "The Alien")
This week, Harvey and Johnny Z were tardy. The Whites grabbed Johnny and sent Harvey (Twice as old as John) to the Blues. The Blues sent Harvey back to the Whites claiming that Harvey would put them over the age cap. What did Harvey do? He went back to the White and scored a goal to put the game out of reach. The moral of this story is "be kind to old people"
The picture on the left shows Beak after a tumble on his roller blades. You have heard the expression, "That’s no skin off of my nose", well Beak can’t say that any more as he left a piece of his proboscis on the pavement. He found out what happens when you hit that wheelchair ramp on skates, he was ready for a wheelchair.
