GROVE RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB



This is the homepage of Grove RFC, which is currently under construction.

The club was founded in 1972 and is situated in the village of Grove, which lies about 1 mile to the north-east of Wantage in Oxfordshire, England.

The club plays in the Courage League in Oxon and Bucks Division 1 and runs three senior sides and Juniors and Mini's at all age levels from seven to 18, plus Colts.

The Club Committee is headed by Chairman John Sevier, and the all important Bar is headed by bar manager Tim Fox.

As you can tell from the year of our founding we are this season celebrating our 25th Anniversary.

Many events are planned this season to celebrate, including an ex-Internationals versus Grove Vets match, which was held on Sunday 14th September 1997. Later in the season we are hoping to stage a celebrity golf day.

14th September

The ex-internationals event proved to be a splendid day for all with a curtain raising match between Grove's under 18's and a representative County XV. It was much to Grove's credit that they ran out winners at 20 : 7.

The internationals match was a great affair with ex-England, Scotland and Wales internationals on show. The game was played in great spirit with numerous tries being scored by both sides.
A few grove players played along side the internationals with Superstar Winger Kevin Sanders scoring twice!

Who won? Well Grove of course but only by a single try!
