DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

The Bulldogs won game #2 of "Revenge Tour 2000" with a 71-48 victory over state rival Ball State. Butler avenged a 10 point defeat in Muncie last season, where the Cardinals buried 13 3-point shots. Ball State wasn't hitting much of anything tonight, finishing at 36% from the field with only one 3-pointer. The Bulldogs were the ones enjoying success from downtown in this game, nailing 10 of 23 from behind the arc.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Senior LaVall Jordan. Vall finally broke out of his shooting slump, hitting all 7 of his shots in the first half. 3 of those shots were from 3-point range, and 3 free throws gave Jordan 20 points at halftime. He only took one shot in the second half (a missed 3), but his first half performance was key to this victory. He finished with 20 points and 5 rebounds.

Thomas Jackson had another solid performance. He had 13 points (3-5 from 3-point range), 5 rebounds, and 7 assists with no turnovers in 32 minutes. Rylan Hainje had a nice game with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Brandon Miller struggled early, but found his range and finished with 11 points and plenty of hustle points. Ball State was led by Theron Smith's 14 points and 8 rebounds.

This game was closer than the final score would indicate. The Cardinals kept themselves in this game with rebounding. They killed us on the boards, 35-25, including 15 offensive rebounds. Their poor shooting ultimately doomed them, but we need to address our rebounding situation. Joel Cornette needs to have more than 2 rebounds in 34 minutes.

The Bulldogs hit the road for 2 more games with in-state rivals. The first of which is this Saturday, December 2, when they travel to Evansville to take on the Purple Aces. Butler spanked Evansville 73-45 at Hinkle last season, so expect the Aces to bring their A-game. Game time is 8:35 pm.
