DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

Butler bounced back from a tough defeat in Detroit by beating the Cleveland State Vikings 59-56. The win pulled the Bulldogs to within half a game of the Vikings for first place in the conference, and kept them tied with Detroit for second place. I was unable to listen to the game, but read that Brandon Miller hit a long range 3-pointer to break a 56-56 tie to win the game. Theo Dixon missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer, but reports say that it was after the buzzer anyway.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Rylan Hainje. Rylan had the most well-rounded game, finishing with 10 points, 2 steals, and a team-leading 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

This was truly a team win, as Butler once again had a balanced attack. Thomas Jackson led the Dawgs with 15 points, and had 3 rebounds and 3 assists. He also had an uncharacteristically high 5 turnovers, but made the pass that led to Miller's game-winning shot. LaVall Jordan had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Miller finished with 9 points (all on 3's) and 3 steals. Cleveland State was led by Dixon's 16 points.

The Bulldogs rebounded from a sub-par defensive effort in Detroit by putting the clamps on the Vikings' offense. CSU shot 37% for the game, and 30% in the second half. Dixon was held to 4-of-13 shooting, and Jamaal Harris was 4-for-15. Butler only shot 42%, but played well enough on defense to get the win.

Butler's final 2 regular season home games are this week. First up are the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers. Game time is Thursday, February 15, at 7 pm EST. Hope to see you there.
