DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

Detroit snapped a 3-game losing streak against Butler and extended their home court winning streak to 28 with a 68-63 victory at Calihan Hall. The game was close the whole way, with Butler leading 31-27 at the half. Detroit regained the lead in the second half, but a pair of 3-pointers by Darnell Archey put the Bulldogs back on top. The Titans then put on the defensive clamps, regained the lead, and held off a late Bulldog charge.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: LaVall Jordan. Vall did all he could in the final minutes to keep the Dawgs in the game, but it just wasn't enough. He finished with 17 points and was 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

Rylan Hainje had 12 first half points en route to 14 for the game. Brandon Miller finished with 10 points, and Darnell Archey added 10 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Joel Cornette had 5 points and 7 rebounds. Detroit was led by Willie Green's 20 points.

We made a lot of poor decisions at inopportune times in the second half, and made some mental mistakes that led directly to Titan points. Green rebounded his own free throw miss and had an uncontested put back that really put the game away. Jordan hit 2 big threes to keep us close, but we couldn't get over the hump. My hat's off to the Titans, they certainly deserved the win.

The road doesn't get any easier for Butler, as the Bulldogs next travel to Cleveland State to battle the first place Vikings. With a game and a half on the Dawgs, CSU will enter next week in first place regardless of the outcome. But a Butler win would help the Bulldogs get back in position to get the #1 seed. Game time is Saturday, February 10, at 7 pm EST.
