Left Photo: While "hard at work," the pResident shrugs as he's asked if he has any real plans for getting out of the quagmires of Iraq & Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the body counts continue to rise for Iraqis and invaders alike.
Right Photo: U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division Spc. Lowary Rick Terry holds a machine gun mounted on a Humvee beside a stone image of the face of former Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein which has been painted over with a US. flag and the name of the American forward operating base, Omaha, outside Tikrit, Iraq, Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003. Couldn't the US military have some semblance of respect for the Iraqis? Painting over their country with the flag of the USA is supposed to encourage them to support us?! What a bunch of imperialists idiots!

Anyone else with me when I say, "The 2004 Elections cannot get here fast enough"?

U.S. Comes Up Empty in Iraq Weapons Hunt
Wed Apr 23, 4:26 PM ET
By PAULINE JELINEK, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - American forces are changing their search strategy after coming up empty at most of the top suspected weapons sites in Iraq, officials said Wednesday.

And the White House appeared to be trying to scale back expectations that weapons of mass destruction will be found.

Impeach Bush!

The scariest twenty-one words I've read in a long time: "The authority to kill U.S. citizens is granted under a secret finding signed by the president after the Sept. 11 attacks." Anyone who can read that and not be worried about the direction our country is headed has got to be a psychopath or a someone who admires a police state (or both). The entire article, from 12/3/02.

Powell Plans Exit After Bush's First Term - Time Magazine
Mon Sep 2, 3:47 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State Colin Powell plans to step down at the end of President Bush's current term in 2005, Time magazine reported on Monday.

The magazine quoted sources close to Powell as saying that he has a firm plan for an exit after serving out the entire term.

"He will have done a yeoman's job of contributing over the four years," a close aide was quoted as saying. "but that's enough."

The aide stressed that Powell was determined to serve out the entire term, even if the United States launches an invasion of Iraq, which Powell has fought to delay or derail.

If Bush wins a second term, only the imminence of a major diplomatic victory -- in the Middle East, for example -- could induce Powell to stay on the job a short while longer, the magazine said.

In an interview with BBC television scheduled for broadcast on Sept. 8, Powell struck a moderate tone in the debate over whether to invade Iraq, insisting that the return of weapons inspectors to Baghdad was a priority.

Until an excerpt from the interview was released on Sunday, Powell had been a silent voice in the public debate. A senior State Deportment official said on Friday the secretary, seen as the leading dove in an administration dominated by hawks, was keeping his powder dry until Bush decides how he intends to convert his policy of "regime change" into a plan of action.

Say "NO" to War -- Peace is the Way

O-I-L

That's what's been behind the "war on terrorism" all along. Look at who is in charge in Afghanistan today, former Unocal adviser Hamid Karzai. And who did Bush appoint as US envoy to Afghanistan? Zalmay Khalilzad, who was chief consultant to Unocal. For more on this, click here.

Is the capture of Osama bin Laden really the goal in this "War on Terrorism"? If so, why didn't the CIA pick him up when they met with him in Dubai back in July?!

True Patriot or War Hawk?
A simple proposition for
Shrub War I

1. To buy an American flag, you must present proof you have voted at least once in the last three elections (yes, local and state elections count).

2. To display an American flag in any form, you must present proof of voter registration.

3. To wave an American flag in public, you must be able to name at least one of the following:

A. Your Senator

C. Your President ("George Bush" does not count; ambiguous)

4. To sell any product with an American flag on it, you must answer the following question:

The Bill of Rights is part of:

A. The Constitution
B. The Magna Carta
C. The Declaration of Independence

5. Those heard singing patriotic songs in public may be asked to show their voter registration cards.

6. To be permitted to scream "Nuke Afghanistan," you must be able to correctly locate Afghanistan on a map or globe.

7. To be permitted to scream "Arabs go home," you must list and correctly locate ten Arab homelands.

10. A call for war on any radio talk-show will be construed as a public declaration of willingness to enlist in the US Army; callers will have 24 hours to complete the paperwork.

Written by Patricia Monaghan, a professor at DePaul University in Chicago

George W. Bush says that any country who harbors known terrorists will be punished. He doesnt have to leave this country or his family to find terrorists being harbored.

Saturday the 6th October was the 25th anniversary of the terrorist bombing of the Cuban airliner on take off from the island of Barbados. All 73 lives on board were lost - among them the entire Cuban youth fencing team, returning from a tournament abroad - when a bomb exploded on board. This is especially poignant in view of the terrorist attack on the United States on the 11th September.

The man who admitted to planning and carrying out the bombing, Cuban-American Orlando Bosch, is considered a hero among the right-wing members of the Miami community. Former Attorney General Dick Thornburgh described Bosch as an "unreformed terrorist."

Nonetheless, against the recommendations of the district director of the INS and the Department of Justice, he was freed by Governor Jeb Bush of Florida after a total of 30 countries had refused to grant his applications of asylum due his long record of terrorist acts. Plus, Pappa Bush (George Senior) pardoned this terrorist in 1990. More...

We don't know who is responsible, but the White House and its compliant corporate media want to put the blame on Osama bin Laden. Where did he come from? An article from MSNBC in 1998 explains some of how the US, through the CIA, created a monster known as Osama bin Laden. More...

The following is from The Kansas City Star, September 17, 2001.

"In Washington, President Bush again put anyone who shelters bin Laden on notice. As for bin Laden himself, Bush turned to the rhetoric of the Old West.

During a visit to the Pentagon, Bush said, "I want justice. There's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, `Wanted: Dead or Alive.' "

Cowboy Justice. Do we really need to return to the most lawless time in our country's history?

Privitize Social Security? With all the dot-com failures, you'd think most politicians would be smart enough to steer clear of that idea for awhile. But wait, it's Dumbya to the rescue--let's raid Social Security to make a real crisis!

The Shrub appears to favor ending the separation of church and state in our country. One only need to look at a few examples from history for what happens when the government and religion are combined: The Spanish Inquisition, Salem Witch Trials, and most recently the Taliban of Afghanistan.

JUST SAY "NO" TO COMBINING OF CHURCH AND STATE!

We need not behave like those who have caused the death of thousands in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. Sign the petition for Peace and Justice. Let's get over 1,000,000 signers and show the Shrub we say "NO!" to war and "YES!" to PEACE.

***UPDATE 5/24/01 In Cuba, they don't mince words! They told the trash-talking SonofaBush to
"Shut Up!"
***UPDATE 3/12/01 Well, at least they know the truth in the UK: Gore Won!
***UPDATE 2/28/01 The "liberal" (ha ha) media says now it's official: Bush won Florida. Yeah, they should have had an ad for some swampland real estate at the end of the article! For a more thoroughly researched recount in Florida visit this site. This is the final line from the page, which sums it up for me: When the Republican propaganda machine tells us to "get over it," we quote Florida Congresswoman Corrine Brown, who said: "We will NEVER get over it. We will take this to our graves!" This country spent $70 million to investigate Bill Clinton's sex life - and continues to pursue Clinton long after his departure from office. But this country cannot find a penny to investigate the biggest crime against democracy in our nation's history. We will not rest until the truth is known - and until the thieves who stole the Presidency are removed from office and brought to justice for their crimes.
***UPDATE 1/22/01 Seattle had a lively and positive J20 rally and march with these principles: Count Every Vote, Investigate the Voter Fraud and the Disenfranchisement of Voters of Color and Oppose the Bush Agenda. (Some pictures from our rally and march.)
***UPDATE 1/7/01 The Bush family has cost our country dearly. Here is an article showing what George Junior, his father, uncle and brothers had done before stealing the presidency.
***UPDATE 12/13/00 Chief Justice William Rehnquist has quite a history when it comes to the right to vote. After reading this story from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, you'll know why Gore could never have expected Rehnquist's support for a hand recount.
***UPDATE 12/3/00 Bush should have lost!***

Banana Republicans!

A history professor from Uppsala
University in Sweden, called a friend
to tell him about an article she had
read in which a Zimbabwe politician was
quoted as saying that children should
study this event closely for it shows
that election fraud is not only a
phenomenon of the developing world. (and
where do you think they learned it??!!)

1. Imagine that we read of an election
occurring anywhere in the third world in
which the self-declared winner was the son
of the former prime minister and that former
prime minister was himself the former
head of that nation's secret police (CIA).

2. Imagine that the self-declared winner
lost the popular vote but won based on some
old colonial holdover (electoral college)
from the nation's pre-democracy past.

3. Imagine that the self-declared winner's
victory' turned on disputed votes cast in a
province governed by his brother!

4. Imagine that the poorly drafted ballots
of one district, a district heavily favoring
the self-declared winner's opponent, led
thousands of voters to vote for the wrong
candidate.

5. Imagine that that members of that nation's
most despised caste, fearing for their lives
and livelihoods, turned out in record numbers
to vote in near-universal opposition to the
self-declared winner's candidacy.

6. Imagine that hundreds of members of that
most-despised caste were intercepted on their
way to the polls by state police operating
under the authority of the self-declared
winner's brother.

7. Imagine that six million people voted in
the disputed province and that the self-
declared winner's 'lead' was only 327 votes.
Fewer, certainly, than the vote counting
machines' margin of error.

8. Imagine that the self-declared winner and
his political party opposed a more careful
by-hand inspection and re-counting of the
ballots in the disputed province or in its
most hotly disputed district.

9. Imagine that the self-declared winner,
himself a governor of a major province, had the
worst human rights record of any province in his
nation and actually led the nation in executions.

10. Imagine that a major campaign promise of the
self-declared winner was to appoint like-minded
human rights violators to lifetime positions on
the high court of that nation.

None of us would deem such an election to be
representative of anything other than the self-
declared winner's will-to-power. All of us, I
imagine, would wearily turn the page thinking
that it was another sad tale of pitiful pre-or anti-
democracy peoples in some strange elsewhere.

November 26th, 2000: It's official; George W. Bush (a.k.a. the "SonofaBush") has stolen the presidential election. He "won" Florida by 537 votes. To do so, many irregularities had to happen. For example, the African Americans kept from voting; the hand count in Palm Beach has been rejected, coupled with the 19,000 votes that were already thrown out! Then, there's the matter of 4,700 Bush votes in Seminole County that were filled out by poll workers. Is this Democracy?! If you don't think so, call the Civil & Voting Rights arm of the Justice Department toll-free at 800-253-3931 and let them know. You can also reach Janet Reno at that number.

The Boston Globe had an excellent editorial on why the press has been saying "Gore should concede," even though he won the popular vote, and no doubt Florida's 25 electorates if a fair and accurate hand count of the votes were to happen. Another good editorial titled, Winning By Intimidation, is here.
