Excited college freshmen Whittier (Anne
Judson-Yager) and Monica (Faune Chambers) arrive on campus wide-eyed
and
ready to show the State University's perennial champion cheerleading
squad that they've got what it takes. The
friends gradually learn that
athleticism, talent and spirit don't necessarily keep you on the team. Head
cheerleader Tina
(Bree Turner) is quick to disapprove of both Whittier's new
boyfriend Derek (Richard Lee Jackson), a DJ and school
cafeteria worker, and
Monica's creativity and attitude.
Forced to choose between her future as
head cheerleader or loyalty to her friends, Whittier does the unthinkable
by
challenging tradition and forming her own innovative cheerleading squad
"The Renegades" to compete with Tina's
polished, seven-year champion varsity
squad. With scheming Dean Oberkfell (Kevin Cooney) looking on, the
student
body packs the gym in a thrilling cheer-off to choose the most
spirited squad to send to Nationals.

College newcomer Whittier tries out for
and joins her new college cheerleading squad to relive her high school days as
head cheerleader. But when she and her best friend Monica are unable to stand
being around the tyrantical and snobish squad captain, Tina, Whittier and Monica
quit and vow to form their own cheerleading squad made up of college campus
misfits and social outcasts for a competition to see which squad will represent
the college for the national cheerleader
championship.
THE WEBMASTER'S PERSONAL OPINION?
To be honest, it didn't actually lived to my expectations. But then again, its predecessor is a pretty hard movie to beat. Plus, some of the scenes were pretty familiar, don't you guys think? Anyways, the cast members which consist of new faces (literary speaking anyway - most of them had been appearing in big name productions, we just didn't recognize them until now) may also contribute to the warm response of the movie. But I personally like Richard Lee Jackson and Bryce Johnson so I don't think that it's all bad. Bitchy Tina (Bree Turner) and Marni (Joie Lenz) reminds me a lot to Whitney & Courtney (Nicole Bilderback & Clare Kramer) from BIO. And hey, I never thought that the social outcasts of the college actually had a tremendous talent in cheerleading (which can even rival the so-called polished champion cheerleading squad). So, again... as Simon Cowell of American Idol would probably put it, "It's just average for me!".
So, what do you think about the movie? Do you like it or do you think it sucks? Drop me a line or two at the usual email address (ranchocarnehigh@yahoo.com)
