THE CONNECTING FACTORS OF...
BRING IT ON & BRING IT ON
AGAIN
We've been told that BIOA is an 'unrelated &
different movie' from the first one. But just how 'different' are the two? A
special thanks to Kimberly, CA for this trivia.
- Whittier (Anne Judson Yager) is a former Toros
while Monica (Faune Chambers) is an ex-Clover. This marked the 2nd time a
Toros and a Clover attended the same college after high school. In BIO, it was
said that both Torrance (Kirsten Dunst) & Isis (Gabrielle Union) goes to
the same college.
- It is also the 2nd time that members of the
reigning cheerleading squad didn't approved of the protagonist's boyfriend. In
BIOA, the squad didn't like the idea that Whittier is interested in Derek
(Richard Lee Jackson), just like when Torrance had her eyes on new kid Cliff
(Jesse Bradford).
- The scenes for both movies were largely shoot at
the universities in the CA area (BIOA = California State University in
Northridge, BIO = University of California San Diego). I think it's because
that some of the major cheerleading tournament (like the UCA championships)
were held in San Diego so it'll be easier for people to relate to it (does
that made any sense?)
- There's also the 'bitchy duo' and the
'goody-to-shoes duo' in both movies. In BIOA, Tina (Bree Turner) and Marni
(Joie Lenz) can be regarded as the 'nasty girls' while Whittier & Monica
as the 'good girls'. In BIO however, the 'bitches' were non other than
Courtney (Clare Kramer) and Whitney (Nicole Bilderback) while Torrance &
Missy (Eliza Dushku) were the 'good ones'.
- The cast members of both movies had appeared in
the same TV shows. Most of the BIOA cast members (the girls especially) had
appeared in MTV's Undressed while most of the BIO cast members had appeared in
popular TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (with Eliza Dushku & Clare
Kramer scoring major roles)
- Both reigning cheerleading squads in both movies
was the undisputed champion of the Nationals before being challenged by a
newer squad (although in BIO, the Clovers were not exactly a new group. They
just stayed outside the limelight for a long time)
BIOA CAST MEMBERS
The cast must be really happy seeing one another at
the movie's auditions cause it seems that the cast member shared more than just
