Jenna Bradshaw

Jenna & Buzz - Jenna's Secret (10/94)

This first scene leads up to the next episode.

Scene I - Outside Fifth Street

Jenna wants Nadine to keep mum about her pregnany with Buzz's child.

Nadine: No, not if you really love somebody.

Jenna: Well, I really don't know how to define true love. To be honest with you, I'm rather happy that I'm having this child without a man in my life. That way I don't have to worry about being abandoned. [smiles]

Nadine: He--you're lying, Jenna. Buzz is the father and you know it.

Jenna: This is my baby. There is no father. And if you want to keep Buzz in that greasy little diner, I suggest that you remember that and keep your mouth shut.

Camera moves to Buzz, who is watching them from afar.

Scene II - Jenna walks past Nadine, turns around, and sees Buzz. With his eyes locked on Jenna's, he approaches them.

Nadine: Jenna was just on her way to the dry cleaners. You know, she still goes to Mr. Lee. Isn't that amazing?

Buzz: Don't they do dry cleaning in your hotel?

Jenna: Yes, they do. But it's overrated and slipshod work. Mr. Lee turns out to be the only person that brings me back to Fifth Street. [there's a lot of hurt in her eyes as she still keeps eye contact with Buzz]

Buzz: Well, if you got a lot of it, I'll take it back to the car--I mean, if there's any holdup. Did Nadine tell you? She's got good news. She's going to be on a TV show. But, please, what about your dry cleaning? I'm riveted.

Scene III

Buzz: You know what this is like? It feels like, you know, high school. When you're walking down the hall and two girls have their heads together and they're whispering. You got to your locker and all of a sudden, they've stopped like your eavesdropping or something. But we're sort of beyond that, aren't we? We're older than that. We can just say, "Hello, how are you?" "Goodbye." Like normal people. I mean, we know who did what to who. [Jenna takes a deep breath] We know the score. Nothing's changed.

Jenna: [practically in tears] Oh, there, you're very wrong, Buzz. Extremely wrong. Things have changed more than that you could ever imagine. [smiling with excitement]

Scene IV

Nadine: What are you getting so excited about, Jenna? You said yourself there was nothing left to talk about.

Jenna: Look at her, Buzz. I think she's afraid. I think that maybe both of you are afraid of what I might just say next. [smiles]

Buzz: Nah, I just heard it before. [to Nadine] Look, Gilly's on her way over to the diner. She might be there now. But, I mean, if you want to stay here and talk about dry cleaning, I'll tell her you don't want to have your own TV show. [turns and walks away]

Nadine: Well, I'll be there in just a minute. [Jenna watches as Buzz walks away; whispering loudly] Are you crazy?

Jenna: [smiling; sarcasm] Me, crazy? [laughs]

Nadine: You tell me to keep my mouth shut about your big secret and you're all ready to scream it out to the whole world?

Jenna: [in a sing song voice] Just wanted to see if I could scare you.

Nadine: Maybe you should have told him, if it's his baby. Or maybe I'll find the guts to tell him myself. [Nadine starts to walk away]

Jenna: Nadine, [Nadine turns back around] if you were to let Buzz go finally, after you have got him, then you're a much bigger fool than I take you for.

Nadine leaves and Jenna cries.
