Greetings Everyone,

The following is a petition for Mr. Jeffrey C. Doughtie (Texas Death Row
Inmate) with a serious execution date of August 16th, 2001. Basically, the
petition is asking that his last dying request be granted, which is to be
allowed one last four hour visit with his son.  The warden is standing
steadfast that the rules state he is only granted a two-hour visit
considering his son lives 285 miles from the prison, which is 15 miles shy
of the alloted 300 miles, which would constitute a four hour visit. The
warden is refusing to take into consideration that Jeff's last two visits
with his son were four hours.  If not for Jeff, please sign the petition for
his son.  Thanking you in advance!

PETITION

Dear Warden Zeller,

We are a group of concerned citizens from the United States and many other
countries. It has come to our attention that death row inmate Jeffrey
Doughtie is being denied a four hour last visit with his son Chris prior to
his execution.  We respectfully point out that even primitive societies
allow their condemned prisoners a last wish.  We understand that that Chris
lives within 300 miles of the prison, but we are imploring you to give this
boy  a full four hour last visit with his father.  Sir, we are appealing to
your sense of humanity and decency to slightly bend the rules in this
situation. A full four hour visit, rather than a two hour visit, will not
compromise security of the prison in any way.  On the contrary, it can
generate positive publicity for your prison.
