Packing
By Coral
Disclaimer: Just taking some underused characters of Paramount's out for a quick spin. No harm intended. The story is plagiarised from "Together", by Coral. I hope she doesn't sue... ;-)
Just a little C/W fic for you all to enjoy! ;-)

Samantha Wildman slowly packed the contents of her quarters into the Starfleet issue containers. Clothes, holos and knick-knacks followed one after the other into the rapidly filling spaces. She felt as if she were packing her life away as she busied around the room.
Voyager had reached Earth at last, and was currently curving a graceful orbit above Sam's home planet. She felt a brief thrill of excitement as she looked forward to showing Naomi Earth, but it was tempered with sadness at the thought of leaving Voyager, her home of 15 years.
The door chimed and she called for the person to enter, unsure whom to expect.
Joe Carey, assistant chief engineer on Voyager, stepped through the door.
"Sam, are you busy?" he asked, casting his eyes over the room.
"Just packing, Joe," she smiled. "Is there something wrong?"
Carey returned her smile with a nervous one of his own. "Just a few jitters. Fifteen years is a long time."
"Tell me about it," Sam sighed, picking up a picture of Naomi as a young child. "You're not the only one who's nervous about returning."
"Naomi?" Joe asked, well aware of the fear the girl had had of leaving Voyager when she was a young child.
"And me too," Sam admitted with a shy smile. She finished packing and turned to Joe.
"We shouldn't be scared," Joe said, serious now. "We can do this together." He kissed her gently, and she smiled gratefully.
"Thanks Joe. I love you."
"And I love you too, Sam. I think that we're going to be able to cope."
"Together," Sam said.
"Together," Carey affirmed with a grin and a nod.
The doors to their quarters swished open, and Naomi bounded in. "Hey, mom! D'you think there'll be any cute boys near our new house?" she asked cheerfully, unaware of the delicate moment she was interrupting.
Sam looked concerned. Boys? She'd thought that the worst parenting challenges were already behind her...
"Probably," she said.
"Good! Can you give me any advice?" she demanded. "I asked Seven, but she said they were irrelevant, even though she's dating Harry." She leapt onto the bed with one bound, crossing her legs underneath her.
Samantha shot a wicked glance at Carey, who was trying not to laugh at this turn of events. With an evil twinkle in her eye, she said airily, "Oh, I'm sure Joe has lots of good advice..."
Joe's eyes immediately fixed on Sam's, clearly speaking of revenge.
"Together, remember?" she mouthed.
Joe's glare could have melted pure neutronium.
The End ;-)
