Liza's Stuff...

It all started in August 1999. I traded in Liza's "steam engine" that she had inherited from her late mother for a sewing machine, a Bernina 1008. (OK!... enough already, the kid was only 11 years old at the time!).

The big surprise!

The very next month Liza had joined the Bernina club at the local dealer... and she's holding her own amongst the other members - certainly no favouritism from the presenter of the clubs (...hmm...errr... that's me!).

Here is one of the latest projects that the club members made. We did pinweaving with satin ribbons and printed cotton strips. Liza choose to make a small bag. Below is the results. Click on the picture to see a bigger version showing the details.

One of the shop assistants at the local dealer has a fabric painting group that meets once a month. Liza got invited to join the group and was soon painting merily. I suggested she do a small piece of fabric (ordinary white cotton) for some FME. (She's been buggin ' me to learn FME since the first time she saw me doing free motion initials on a pencil bag she had sewn herself. Below is the first attempt at FME (Ok, enough already - there's another scrap of cotton on which she tried a couple of inches of the different type of lines she used on the final, like slow swirls, pointed straight lines and circular squiggles).

Once again, click on the piccie for a bigger version showing a lot more details (like individual stitches!)
