A Country Rag A Muse 'N Toon flag

"MORNINGS"

by Donald Smith

Did you ever wake up in the morning
And look out the window or door
At the rain coming down like cats and dogs
And your bones and muscles were sore?

And you thought, "I'm not going in today.
I think I'll crawl back in the sack."
Then another thought occurred to you
Your budget was not in the black.

toon

Your family certainly likes to eat,
And your payments are coming due.
Your wife's best dress is out of style,
You could use a dollar or two.

So you get yourself dressed and out the door,
And you join the commuting mob
Now your bones and muscles feel better
'Cause you really do like your job.
