A Country Rag A Muse 'N Toon flag

"ADVANCING AGE"

by Donald Smith

I was really startled this morning
While shaving away at my beard.
A stranger was in my mirror,
An old guy who looked rather weird.

He couldn't be me...I'm still quite young.
It was just a few years ago
When I graduated from high school,
I've still got some wild oats to sow.

Look at those wrinkles and gray hair.
I wonder who that man can be...
He makes every move that I make
But I'm sure that fellow's not me.

That old man has sure ruined my day,
And he's changed my outlook a bit.
Before I looked in that mirror
I was feeling physically fit.
