"Exercise"

by Donald Smith

The doctor told me I should exercise
And I couldn't agree with him more
So I put on a pair of walking shoes
And headed for the grocery store

It was after about a mile and a half
That I knew I had walked too far
I was tired and hungry; and out of breath
So I bought me a candy bar

The candy was good but not quite enough
To satisfy my appetite
So I bought me a foot-long hot dog
And sat down and took a bite

Exercise, Sandy Smith

And then the ice cream truck came by
And I got me a triple-dip cone,
Two dreamsickles and a banana split
Then I got on the telephone

I called my wife to bring the car
I was too tired to walk anymore
Tomorrow I'll be much more rested
And can walk to the pizza store
