I went down to the music store
And bought me a new guitar
Now, if I learn just two more chords
I will be a Country Star
I practiced almost ten whole hours
That really made my fingers sore
But it gave me a good excuse
For the rise in my golfing score
My wife says I'm way off-key
But that doesn't faze me at all
I'm just going to keep on singing
Until I get that Nashville call
I was singing a song last Sunday
And strumming on my new guitar
But my wife and the dog went running
And escaped in the family car
