Denial Crumbles

I suffer through the traffic noises
and a toilet
refilling
as the denial crumbles
and sinks in its excrement;
and as my troubles flee
hand in hand with my sanity,
I touch the frigid stone:
half the shelves are empty,
half the shoe are gone--
(It's a long way alone)
my life goes on...
