I would like to start this off by saying look at the Car above and ask yourself. Do I want to drink or drive sleepy?. I would be hoping to hear you saying "No Way Jose" and I hope I'm right about what you are thinking. Well it was a Saturday December 31,1988 that started off as a typical day of relaxing not having to go to work and all. Washed up my 1966 Super Sport Impala. Getting ready for the weekend ahead. Usually this time of the year its raining. It happen to be a beautiful sunny day out. Well you are saying by now get to it Chet. *LOL* I jump some time ahead for it to be eight o'clock at night to keep from tellin about the whole day. I got in the shower at that time to get ready for partying. New Year's Eve right. Well got all dress to kill in my Cowboy clothes and put on my Hat to match. Mother was there to take care of my Son. He was twelve then. So nine thirty rolled around and with My Mom saying to me "Please" dont go out tonight!!!. Stay home with Me and Junior!!!. No Mom I want to go out and have fun like the others are going to do. It is ten o'clock and out the door I went. Went to this club over where they do Country Dancing about twenty miles from the house. As I come up to the first corner to turn toward heading out of Town I stopped and thought to myself. Should I keep going or should I go back to the house. I also had in the back of my mind that just a week before I happen to go bowling and I seen a kid that had gotten paralyzed from diving into a canal bank. The water wasn't deep enough and he broke his neck. Well I went on anyway thinking that I am going to have a great time. Got to the club and started dancing with the girls that I had met before and we all were good friends. Then it come around to be twelve-thirty. So I said to my friends I am headin home. So I started out. I got all the way to the point that I was about a half a mile from the edje of Town. Thats when I fell asleep at the wheel. I went off the road to the oncoming traffic side of the road and got in the gravel. When the gravel started hitting the bottom of my car I woke right up. The first thing I saw was a stop sign coming at me. I whip the wheel to the right knowing that I would have to to head around the short corner there to go into Town. When I turn the wheel so quickly I started sliding sideways and then come up on a hedge that was in front of the house on the corner there. The hedge was around five feet tall. Well when I seen the hedge coming at me I panicked and and put my head down. Some how I managed to get it under the dashboard. So as I was sliding sideways I hit something hard in the yard. I didn't know then what the heck I hit. Come to find out after I got home it was a tree stump the people had left in the yard after cutting down a big tree. When my car hit that it jumped up in the air and at the same time snap my neck. The car continued on till it rested up against a telephone pole. That was the end of that horrible ride. After the car come to a rest, I tried to sit up and see where I was at. Thats when I knew there was something bad wrong when I could not do it. I had split my head open and blood was running down the front of my face. I began to try my best to yell for help. Then I heard the sirens heading toward me. I guess I woke up the people in the home that I went through there yard. It was meant to be that I crashed there so I would have help cause if it would have been out further from Town I wouldn't have made it to tell this to you who have read all of what I have written here. I want to take the time to Thank You all for reading this and hope it will help someone else not make the wrong choice to drink and drive or drive sleepy either. Oh by the way there is no more hedge there anymore or tree stump. *LOL*
