The last hints of sunlight were peeking around the edges of the burgundy curtains in the funeral parlor as they walked in to take their seats.  In the foyer, there were the tables full of pictures and remembrances of the deceased. Pictures of the Three Musketeers - Joyce, Dawn and Buffy - out for picnics in the park, opening day at Joyce's gallery and celebrating birthdays. Then pictures of Buffy and her friends - Xander and Willow - a group photo after the Prom, the makeshift graduation ceremony they held in the backyard once the Mayor was blown up and the portrait they had gotten Giles for Christmas.

Giles held Dawn's hand as she sat down. Willow and Xander sat on her other side with Anya and Tara behind them. Anya offered Spike the seat next to her and he took it, after noticing that Xander was nodding in approval. The minister began the service and it was soon time for Dawn to give her eulogy.

"I sat in my room this morning, willing myself to get ready. And for some reason, I looked around and actually saw the things that surround me. I saw pictures and school awards. My bookshelf is full of journals with torn and charred pages, most of them full, but some still awaiting a picture or passage. I felt a stir of fury; I almost threw them all out, I mean, what are they except paper... right? But then I heard a calm voice in my head. It was the part of me that always looked up to Buffy, the part of her little sister that didn't envy her or want to tell on her. And I realized that all those things on my room... they are what Buffy died for. She died for me, for us. She wanted us to have a future, for each and every one of us to have another day to fill up our journal. Buffy loved us all so much, and, I think, that for each of us to say we love her is for us to live our lives in such a way that when we see her aga....." Dawn paused to regain her breath. "When we see her again, that we each have a journal so full of memories that it won't close anymore, that is how I will go on loving my sister."

With that Dawn stepped out from behind the pulpit and nodded to the pianist "This was one of her favorite songs." And in her small voice, she began to sing for her sister. "'Til my body is dust, 'til my soul is no more. I will love you, love you." But she didn't make it any further before she felt herself get light-headed and start to sob, and then... in the instant before she knew she would fall, she felt hands on her back. His hands. The cool hands. And she heard his voice fill in where hers could not go. "'Til the sun starts to cry and the moon turns to rust. I will love you, love you." She turned around to look into Spike's eyes and saw his tears too as he whispered "Don't worry, I've got you."

And they both continued on. "But I need to know, will you stay for all time. Forever and a day?" Then, Willow and Xander's voices joined in. "And I'll give my heart 'til the end of all time, forever and a day. And I need to know, will you stay for all time? Forever and a day."

He was standing at the back of the room almost hidden behind some drapery. Caught in a bit of traffic, he had been scared that he'd be late. He was and now he wasn't sure where to go. He had thought to sit next to Willow but Xander was sitting there. So he had stood at the back of the room and listened to Dawn's speech, the little one had Buffy's presence. And as he heard her voice crack during the song, that he held in his heart as Buffy's, he almost went up to help her. Almost. And then he saw her face as Spike reassured her. Spike, not there to kill anyone, but holding Dawn as if she were priceless china. He watched as Dawn regained her strength and leaned back a bit into him for support. He wasn't needed there, she would be just fine. And he turned around singing to Buffy as he walked to his car. "'Til the stars fill my eyes and we touch the last time, I will love you, love you. I will love you, love you."
