Performance Contracts
Below are listed the various requirements for Spruce Creek Drama Performance Contracts, which are used on every show--

General Provisions (Applies to all positions):
1. I have read and understand the rehearsal schedule for this production and will be on time at all required rehearsals unless previously agreed upon with the director and noted below:                                       
2. I will check in with the Stage Manager or Assistant Stage Manager upon arriving at rehearsal and will check -in on the call board from technical rehearsal to the end of the run of the show.
3. I will dress appropriately for rehearsal, including shoes.
4. I will not leave the auditorium after arriving and/or signing in at rehearsal/performance without the director's permission.
5. I will not bring cell phones, pagers, or similar devices to rehearsals or performances and I understand if I do bring one and it is activated it will be confiscated and turned over to the administration.
6. I will leave no food in the auditorium following rehearsal.
7. I will arrange for transportation so that following rehearsal I am able to leave campus immediately.
8. I will be willing to assist other production personnel in execution of their duties if necessary.
9. Beginning with technical rehearsal(s), I will neither bring nor consume any food or drink (with the exception of water); this will be for all subsequent rehearsals and performances.
10. I understand that I must be in 5 consecutive class periods on the day of a performance to be eligible to perform that evening or for subsequent weekend performances.
11. I understand all actors and technicians are required to participate in strike.
12. I will not use or facilitate the use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol or any other prohibited substance during rehearsals or technical crew calls.
13. I understand that failure to meet up to my responsibilities as listed on this contract may result in my removal from the cast/crew and may be considered in future casting/technical crew selection decisions.
14. I understand that I am required to sell one advertisement for the play's program and that failing that I am forbidden to attend the strike party.
15. I hereby assign all rights to any photographs, sound recordings, and/or video recordings made of me in connection with this production to the Spruce Creek High School Drama Club, without limitation as an educational resource or advertising material.  I hereby waive any right to inspect or approve the finished photographs, sound track, or advertising copy or printed matter that may be used in conjunction therewith or to the eventual use that might be applied.  I agree that the Spruce Creek High School Drama Club, its members, its sponsors, Spruce Creek High School, Volusia County Schools, their employees and assigns are released from any liability for claims by me or anyone else arising out of my participation or appearance in this production.

Specific Provisions:

Student Director
1.  I will maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
2.  I will be present at the production's auditions and make casting decisions in cooperation with the other directors and under the sponsor's supervision.
3.  I will create a rehearsal schedule and submit it for approval to the sponsor immediately following auditions.
4.  I will conduct rehearsals to block, polish, and run the show so that it is in a state of completion at the technical rehearsal.
5.  I will have the sponsor watch my production prior to technical rehearsal in order to approve the blocking and other elements.
6.  I will adhere to the submitted budget for this production.
7.  I will make no purchases for this production without the prior approval of the sponsor for which I will expect to be reimbursed.
8.  I will follow Spruce Creek High School policies in regards to making purchases; in other words, they will be done via purchase order request submitted at least four days in advance of when I intend to make the purchase.
9.  I will obtain performance contracts from my cast and production staff by the end of the first week of rehearsal.
10.  I will be prepared for any technical or dress rehearsals required by the sponsor.
11.  I will complete program material and publicity material by the date set by the sponsor.
12.  I will have a list of photos to take prepared in advance for photo call and conforming to the number of photos per production established by the sponsor.
13.  I will supervise all technical elements of the production to maintain a correlation between them that is appropriate to my concept.
14.  If at any time I am removed from the Drama Club roster for any reason, I realize I will be replaced as director.

Stage Manager
1.  I will maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
2.  I will be present at the production's auditions to help with paperwork and advise the director.
3.  I will work out a schedule with the rest of the production staff so that all rehearsals will have a stage manager or assistant stage manager present.
4.  I will keep the prompt book up to date and in a manner which is easily understood by all production personnel.
5.  I will set up the stage as necessary prior to rehearsal/performance in the absence of technicians.
6.  I will call actors/technicians when they have not arrived at rehearsal/performance/crew call and record tardiness/absence in the prompt book.
7.  I will lead warm-ups as necessary before rehearsals or performances.
8.  When necessary in rehearsal, I will stand in for a missing actor.
9.  In rehearsal, I will be attentive when actors call for lines.
10.  In the absence of the director, I will conduct rehearsal.
11.  During technical and dress rehearsals and performances, I will call the production's cues.  I will not participate in unnecessary talk on the headsets which might result in a missed cue.
12.  I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.
13.  If necessary, I will clean up debris left behind by actors/technicians.
14.  I will check to see that all doors are locked before leaving rehearsal and that all fire lanes are clear.  I will be the last person to leave following rehearsal/performance with the exception of the director. 
15.  In an emergency, I am prepared to take the place of an actor in the production if they are unable to perform for any reason.

Assistant Stage Manager
1. I will maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
2. I will be present at the production's auditions to help with paperwork and advise the director.
3. I will work out a schedule with the rest of the production staff so that all rehearsals will have a stage manager or assistant stage manager present.
4. I will keep the prompt book up to date and in a manner which is easily understood by all production personnel.
5. I will set up the stage as necessary prior to rehearsal/performance in the absence of technicians.
6. I will call actors/technicians when they have not arrived at rehearsal/performance/crew call and record tardiness/absence in the prompt book.
7. I will lead warm-ups as necessary before rehearsals or performances.
8. When necessary in rehearsal, I will stand in for a missing actor.
9. In rehearsal, I will be attentive when actors call for lines.
10. In the absence of the director, I will conduct rehearsal.
11. During technical and dress rehearsals and performances, I will call the production's cues.  I will not participate in unnecessary talk on the headsets which might result in a missed cue.

16. In the absence of the stage manager, I will accept all of their responsibilities as outlined above.
17. I will set up the stage as necessary prior to rehearsal/performance in the absence of technicians.
18. When necessary in rehearsal, I will stand in for a missing actor.
19. I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.
20. If necessary, I will clean up debris left behind by actors/technicians.
21. I will maintain quiet backstage on the part of actors, technicians, and myself.
22. I will not participate in unnecessary talk on the headsets which might result in a missed cue.
23. I will check to see that all doors are locked before leaving rehearsal and that all fire lanes are clear.  I will be the last person to leave following rehearsal/performance with the exception of the director.
24. In an emergency, I am prepared to take the place of an actor in the production if they are unable to perform for any reason.

Actor
1.  I will change my appearance for this production as specified by the director, with the exception of any stipulations made at the time of auditions on my audition form and listed here:               
2.  I will bring the appropriate script and a pencil to each rehearsal.
3.  I will have all lines memorized by the dates assigned by the director.
4.  I will use good personal hygiene before rehearsal/performance out of respect for my fellow actors.
5.  I will participate in warmups.
6.  I will make my best effort not to damage the auditorium facilities, sets, and/or properties during the run of the production.
7.  I will not disturb properties used by other actors.
8.  I will not talk in the wings or other offstage areas during technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, or performances.
9.  I will notify the costume master/mistress of any damages sustained by my costume during the production, including lost buttons, torn seams, etc.
10.  I will notify the Properties Master/Mistress of any damages to the properties which I know of during the run of the production.
11.  I will not risk injury unnecessarily during the rehearsal process or the run of the production.
12.  I understand that if I lose and/or damage the script assigned to me by the directors I will be fined a sum equal to that which Music Theatre International, the rental house, will fine Spruce Creek High School for such damages and/or loss.  Failure to pay this fine will result in an obligation for the same amount.

Light Board Operator
1.  I will patch the dimmers and record the cues at the light hang and/or dry technical rehearsal.
2.  I will prepare hookup charts and light cue sheets which will be logical to anyone who needed to use them.
3.  In  the event of a computerized show, I will make sure I load the show from disk prior to each performance.  I will then check the levels on the lightboard and see that all patching and all cues were loaded correctly.
4.  I will perform an instrument  check before the house opens to see if any lamps need to be changed.
5.  I will maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
6.  I will listen attentively to the stage manager's cues during production and execute them as rehearsed.
7.  I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.

Sound Board Operator
1.  I will record music and sound effects cues as directed by the director, which may need to be done after school.
2.  I will organize the sound sources to make them as easy to use as possible.
3.  I will follow all the directions on the sound check off list to make certain all equipment is properly wired for the production.
4.  I will set up the speakers before rehearsal or before the house opens and strike them after each rehearsal/performance.
5.  I will set up microphones if required by a particular production and perform microphone tests to make certain they work.  In the case of wireless microphones, I will check the microphone batteries to be sure they have power.
6.  I will instruct the actors in microphone use when necessary.
7.  I will test microphone levels prior to the house opening.
8.  I will work out with the production staff any details involving the wireless microphones used in a performance.
9.  I will rewind all tapes at the conclusion of a rehearsal/performance.
10.  I will maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
11.  I will listen attentively to the stage manager's cues during production and execute them as rehearsed.
12.  I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.

Spotlight Operator
1.  I will perform an instrument  check before the house opens to see if the lamp needs to be changed.
2.  I will maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
3.  I will listen attentively to the stage manager's cues during production and execute them as rehearsed.
4.  I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.

Costume Lead
1.  I understand that my immediate superior is anyone on the production staff (stage manager and assistant stage managers) and the director.
2.  I will organize the costumes to best serve the actors' needs and to facilitate quick changes.
3.  I will organize quick costume changes which will occur in the wings in conjunction with the rest of the costume crew and the actor(s) involved and I will see that these changes are executed as quickly and quietly as possible.
4.  I will make repairs to costumes as needed.
5.  I will see that costumes are stored in an appropriate manner following each rehearsal and performance.  I will not leave the auditorium until all actors have turned in their costumes so that this may be accomplished.
6.   After the final performance, I will see that all costumes which are the property of  the Drama Club are stored in the costume room.  I will also see to it that all borrowed costumes and accessories are returned to their owners immediately.
7.  I will supervise the costume crew. 
8.  I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.

Costume Crew

1.  I understand that my immediate superior is the costume master/mistress, and that anyone on the production staff (stage manager and assistant stage managers) and the director may also assign me tasks.
2.  I will helpt to maintain the costume organization.
3.  I will help the costume crew and the actor(s) in any quick changes which the production requires and I will see that these changes are executed as quickly and quietly as possible.
4.  I will help make repairs to costumes as needed.
5.  I will see that costumes are stored in an appropriate manner following each rehearsal and performance.  This job is not completed until the costume master/mistress gives their approval.
6.   After the final performance, I will see that all costumes which are the property of  the Drama Club are stored in the costume room.  I will also see to it that all borrowed costumes and accessories are returned to their owners immediately.
7.  I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.

Properties Lead
1. I understand that my immediate superior is anyone on the production staff (stage managers and assistant stage managers) and the director.
2. I will read the play and compose a properties list based on it.  I will also attend rehearsals as necessary to see if the cast and crew have a need for properties not indicated by the script.
3. I will have all properties collected, constructed, or purchased by technical rehearsal.  When necessary and when instructed, I will complete this task by an earlier assigned date.
4. I will provide properties to the actor for the purpose of rehearsal at the earliest possible date and will provide rehearsal properties as necessary prior to the actual properties being ready.
5. When it is necessary to purchase properties, I will find the least expensive place to purchase them.  I will also make sure they will take school purchase orders.  I will then coordinate with the sponsor to get purchase orders from bookkeeping at least one week before the purchase needs to take place so that the paperwork will be completed on time.  
6. I will check and set properties prior to each rehearsal or performance and I will see that they are properly stored at the conclusion of each rehearsal or performance.
7. With the stage manager, I will create a shift assignment list for each properties shift during the production.
8. During the production, I will help during the properties shifts.
9. I will stay after rehearsal for technical notes and will not leave until dismissed by the stage manager or director.
10. I will check out with the stage manager before leaving the auditorium at the conclusion of rehearsal and performance.
11. After the last performance, I will see that all properties purchased or constructed for the production or donated to the Drama Club are properly stored unless otherwise instructed by the director.  I will also see that any properties on loan to the Drama Club are returned to their owners by Friday following the last performance.

Properties Crew
1. I understand that my immediate superior is the properties master/mistress and that anyone on the production staff (stage managers and assistant stage managers) or the director also may assign me tasks.
2. I will help the properties master/mistress assemble, construct, and store the properties for the production, meeting any assigned deadlines.
3. I will help maintain the properties in good working condition throughout the run of the show.
4. I will perform my shift assignments during production in the minimum time safely.
5. I will check and set properties prior to each rehearsal or performance and I will see that they are properly stored at the conclusion of each rehearsal or performance.
6. I will stay after rehearsal for technical notes and will not leave until dismissed by the stage manager or director.
7. I will check out with the stage manager before leaving the auditorium at the conclusion of rehearsal and performance.

House Manager
1.  I understand that my immediate superior is anyone on the production staff (stage manager and assistant stage managers) and the director.
2.  I will supervise the house crew.
3.  I will maintain a neat and professional appearance myself and will see that my crew is likewise attired.  We will behave in a respectable manner and will not discuss inappropriate or potentially offensive subjects.
4.  I will receive the cash bank from the director and count it with the director to assure that the quantity is accurate.  This will be done prior to the opening of ticket sales.  This bank will never be out of my sight, and I recognize that I alone am responsible for any discrepancies once the money is turned over to me.
5.  My crew and I will check the auditorium for any trash which may have been left in it.
6.  I will set up a ticket sales area outside the auditorium which will be open for business by one hour before curtain time.  I will see that this area is presentable at all times.  I may need to make signs for it which state the name of the production and the costs of the tickets.
7.  I will post signs which warn the audience that "No Flash Photography is Allowed During Performance."  In the case of an in-school performance, I will post "No Entry-Performance in Progress" signs on all auditorium doors.
8.  I not take bills larger than a $20.00 without the director's approval.  I will see that checks are made out to "Spruce Creek High School."
9.  During ticket sales, I will see that each person who pays admission receives a ticket.  I will station my crew so that they may collect tickets at the door and hand out programs to each audience member.
10.  I will maintain a sign-in sheet for employees of Spruce Creek High School, who are each allowed in with a guest free of charge.
11.  I will not open house until instructed by the director.  Audience members may be told the house will open 30 minutes before curtain.
12.  My crew and I will assist anyone who needs help getting to a seat.
13.  At the conclusion of ticket sales, I will count out my original bank for use at intermission.  I will then count the remaining money and put it in an envelope.  This will represent that night's ticket sales.
14.  I will set up a concessions area which will also be neat and presentable.  I may need to make signs listing the cost of various items.  Food and drink will be displayed in a pleasing manner so as to encourage sales. 
15.  I will coordinate with the custodian(s) to get ice for concessions.  They should be informed of the need for ice and it should be received by 30 minutes before the end of the first act of the play.
16.  Neither I nor any member of my staff will eat or drink anything during intermission.
17.  I will see that food and drink are sold at the appropriate prices.
18.  I will give warnings on a one minute basis to the crowd during intermission beginning 5 minutes before curtain.  I will check with the stage manager to make sure this time is accurate.
19.  I will station members of my crew by auditorium entrances to make sure that audience members do not take food or drink into the auditorium.
20.  At the conclusion of intermission, I will again count out my original bank.  The remaining money will be put in an envelope.  This will represent that night's concessions sales.
21.  I will see that the concessions materials are stored properly and that the area is left completely clean.
22.  I will store all house related materials in a secure location, approved by the director, after the show.
23.  My crew and I will check the auditorium after the performance and pick up any discarded programs or other materials and dispose of them.
24.  I will count all the money with the director and make certain that the ticket money is equal to the number of tickets sold, the concessions money is equal to the concession items sold, and that the bank is complete.  I may not leave until this is done.  I understand that if there are discrepancies in the money, I am responsible.

House Crew
1.  I understand that my immediate superior is the house manager.  I also understand that anyone on the production staff (stage manager and assistant stage managers) and the director may assign me tasks.
2.  I will maintain a neat and professional appearance. I will behave in a respectable manner and will not discuss inappropriate or potentially offensive subjects.
3.  I will help the house manager clean the auditorium before the show.
4.  I will help set up the ticket sales area.
5.  I perform assigned tasks, such as ticket collection or program distribution.
6.  I will assist anyone who needs help getting to a seat.
7.  I will help set up a concessions area which will also be neat and presentable.
8.  I will not eat or drink anything during intermission.
9.  I will not allow audience members to take food or drink into the auditorium.
10.  I will see that the concessions materials are stored properly and that the area is left completely clean.
11.  I will store all house related materials in a secure location, approved by the director, after the show.
12.  I will check the auditorium after the performance and pick up any discarded programs or other materials and dispose of them.

Makeup Lead
1.  I understand that my immediate superior is anyone on the production staff (stage manager and assistant stage managers) and the director.
2.  I will make a list of required cosmetics and accessories to properly execute the play.  I will submit this to the director in advance to allow time for any purchases which must be made.
3.  I will instruct the actors at the final technical rehearsal on makeup methods for the production.
4.  I will supervise the application of makeup at each dress rehearsal and performance and help actors when appropriate.
5.  I will check the makeup under the actual stage lights prior to performance.
6.  I will see that makeup is stored in an appropriate manner following each rehearsal and performance.
7.   After the final performance, I will see that all makeup supplies and accessories which are the property of  the Drama Club are stored in the appropriate location.
8.  I will supervise the makeup crew.
9.  I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.

Makeup Crew
1.  I understand that my immediate superior is the makeup lead.  I also understand that anyone on the production staff (stage manager and assistant stage managers) and the director can assign me tasks.
2.  I will supervise the application of makeup in accordance with the makeup lead's instructions at each dress rehearsal and performance and help actors when appropriate.
3.  I will see that makeup is stored in an appropriate manner following each rehearsal and performance.
4.  After the final performance, I will see that all makeup supplies and accessories which are the property of  the Drama Club are stored in the appropriate location. 
5.  I will stay for notes after all rehearsals.

Stage Crew
1. I understand that my immediate superior is anyone on the production staff (stage managers and assistant stage managers) and that they and the director may assign me tasks.
2. I will attend all rehearsals and performances beginning with dry technical rehearsal.
3. I will maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
4. I will stay for notes following rehearsals.
5. I will check and set stage set pieces and drapes prior to each rehearsal and/or performance and I will see that they are properly stored at the conclusion of each rehearsal or performance.
6. I will follow the instructions of the stage manager, the assistants stage manager(s), and the director during rehearsal and production.
7. I will move set and stage properties as safely, quickly, and efficiently as possible and as instructed by the production staff.
8. I will check out with the stage manager before leaving the auditorium at the conclusion of rehearsal and performance.

Publicity Crew
1.  I understand that my immediate superior is the Publicity Director and that any member of the production staff (stage manager and assistant stage managers) and the director may also assign me tasks.
2.  I will help label envelopes as directed.
3.  I will put up posters as directed and note locations where they have been placed.  This list will be given to the publicity director.
4.  I will distribute flyers as directed.
5.  I will help set up displays to advertise the production, for example in the atrium display case.
