Authore Note:Well first off let me say sorry for taking so long to get this story finished and up. I have had very little time to work on this or any other fics lately, that and the fact that working on this fic makes me depressed. But there is good news I have started the third part to it. If your new to this fic I suggest that you go and read the first part because it will help the second part make sense. That's all for now.
True Loves Kiss part II:
Akane continued to kiss Ranma unaware of what was happening inside his head. She was happy; she was finally doing something that she had wanted to do for the longest of time. She now knew that Ranma was hers, and that none of the other girls had a chance with him anymore. He was hers and hers alone, and she was more then willing to accept that.
As Akane continued the kiss she felt Ranmas arms loosen from around her waist, forcing her to break the kiss that they were sharing. When their lips finally parted Akane felt that something wasn’t right between them, and because of that she couldn’t look Ranma in the face.
"Wow, who would have thought that would have happened, I for one didn’t, how about you Ranma? Ranma?" Akane started to babble. "Hello are you going to answer me?"
Akane turned her head and suddenly realized the reason why Ranma wasn’t answering. He was lying on her bed in some sort of daze, to her it almost looked as if Ranma had fainted, but she knew that he wasn’t the type of person to just up and faint... Something wasn’t right.
"Ranma, come on Ranma stop playing around, this is isn’t funny, Ranma you’re starting to scare me! Ranma? Oh god you aren’t playing are you?"
Before Akane had a chance to think about what she was doing she was at the top of the stairs calling for Dr. Tofu and anyone else in the house that might be able to help.
"Akane what’s wrong?"
"It’s Ranma he’s passed out."
"Passed out?"
"Yeah, as in fell back not responding to me."
"Oh, dear it seems as if son in law has run out of time."
"Cologne what do you mean he’s run out of time?"
"What didn’t Ranma tell you?"
"Tell me what? Ukyo, what the hell are you talking? What did he have to tell me?"
"I take that as a no."
"Shampoo, Ukyo take Akane downstairs and explain to her what’s going on. Ryoga Genma and Soun pick Ranma up and take him to his room. Once there all of you leave except for Genma. The rest of you either go downstairs or leave."
All of the occupants in the room followed Colognes instructions to a tee, some choosing to stay most choosing to leave.
Once they had Ranma safely in his room Soun and Ryoga made their way down the stairs to join the others, leaving a somber Genma alone with his son.
"What am I gonna do with you boy? I thought I trained you better then this. I never would have given my memories up to save a person in fact I wouldn’t give my life up either. But yet that’s exactly what you did you went against all I’ve taught you about self-preservation to save someone you think that you love, and in turn you lose all memory of her. When will you learn?"
Akane sat at the table silently listening to Ukyo and Shampoo explaining what was happening to Ranma.
"…So you see Akane in order to save you Ranma had to give up his memory of you and anything that has happened to him in the last two years. Do you understand?"
"No, no I don’t. Why would Ranma do something like that?"
"To save you Akane."
"That’s not what I mean Shampoo, well not exactly what I mean. Why would Ranma want to save me it’s not like I’ve ever been extremely nice to him or anything like that. I was always jealous of the time he spent with you guys and I always hit him and called him a jerk or a pervert. I haven’t done anything to deserve to live, Ranma has but I haven’t."
Shampoo and Ukyo stared at Akane in a shocked silence at what she had just said. Neither one knowing what to say to the girl who was their enemy and at the same time their friend. Ukyo was the first to speak.
"Akane, don’t say that. You did all those things to Ranma because you love him, and in my eyes that makes you somebody who deserves to live. You brought love to someone, who had never really felt it before, you opened up your heart to Ranma and in turn he opened his to you. You also gave friendship to me and to the countless others that have followed Ranma to Nerima."
"Spatula girl right Akane, you give me friendship most of time and love to Ranma all of time, you deserve to live and Ranma know that. That why Ranma gave memories to save your life, a memory can return a life no can."
Akane just looked at the two girls with tears streaking down her face wondering how they could be so nice to her. She’s treated them like dirt most of the time and now they were being so kind to her.
"What…What am I going to do if Ranma doesn’t get his memory back? What if he doesn’t remember that he loves me? What if he falls in love with someone else?"
Ukyo took the crying girl in to her arms to comfort her.
"Those are questions that we’ll just have to take as they come alone Akane, but remember if you need a shoulder to cry on or anything like that, I’ll be there for you."
"Thank-you Ukyo, Thank-you."
As Genma continued to watch his son, thoughts about things that he had done to him in the past came rushing back. Thoughts like the time he had traded his son for a bowl of rice a pickle and mer fish, or when he engaged him to Ukyo in exchange for her fathers’ okinamyaki cart. There were those but there were also things that were much worse. Things like wrapping his son in fish sausages and throwing him to the cats, and worst of all taking him to Jusenkyo for that was one thing he could never forgive himself for doing. Not only had he destroyed his life, but the life of his son as well, because of his curse Ranma could never see his mother again, well not in his own form.
Genma continued his thoughts until he heard a low moan coming from the direction of his son. Genma quickly crossed the room to be by his sons’ side when he awoke.
"Ranma?"
As Genma continued to peer at his son he noticed that Ranma was starting to move, and with the movement came the odd moan. Suddenly Ranma opened his eyes and sat up looking around the room in a confused state.
"What? What? Pop? Where are we?"
"Ranma, your awake!"
"Uh…"
"Hang on boy I’ll be right back."
Genma got off of his feet and ran out of the room to tell everyone else that Ranma was awake and asking questions. As Genma ran down the stairs, Ranma started to look around the room at the various things that he and his father had collected over their travels and since arriving in Nerima.
As he scanned the room his eyes were drawn to a picture of Akane and the rest of the gang, himself included. Ranma walked over to the picture and picked it up to look at it closer. Just then Genma returned followed by Dr. Tofu, and Cologne.
"Ah, Son-in-law I see that you’re feeling better, good, very good."
"What? Son-in-law? Pop what’s going on? Who are these people?"
"You don’t remember us Ranma?"
"No, should I?"
"Well we aren’t sure. Ranma I’m Dr. Tofu and if you don’t mind I’m going to do a little examination on you is that okay?"
"Sure, I’m feeling fine though, I really don’t think I need this."
Dr. Tofu and Cologne shared a knowing glance with each other and then turned their attention towards Ranma.
"Okay Ranma, we just have some questions for you to answer. Is that okay?"
"Yeah fine, whatever."
"Okay, um…here’s the first question Ranma. How old are you?"
"What kind of question is that? I’m 14 if you’re a doctor you should know that. What why are looking at me like that?"
"Actually Ranma your 16 not 14."
"16? That can’t be right, I know I’m only 14 unless two years have gone by and I can’t remember anything about them. What? Just what did I say now?"
"Never mind Ranma, we’ll get to that in a minute. Do you know where you are and why you are here?"
"No…In fact I can’t even remember getting here. Doc what’s wrong with me?"
"Well Ranma you seem to have lost some of your memory, actually you’ve lost the last two years of your life."
"Two years? You’re joking right?"
"Does he look like he’s joking son-in-law?"
Ranma turned and glared at Cologne and Dr. Tofu, he couldn’t, no, he wouldn’t believe what they were telling him. A person just can’t up and lose two years of their life it just doesn’t happen.
"Shut up! Just shut up, both of you. I can’t believe this. You’re both lying to me I know you are. I just know why, but I know you’re lying."
"Please Ranma, calm down. You have to believe us we wouldn’t lie about something like this to you. You may think we are, but we aren’t."
"Pop?"
"I’m sorry boy they aren’t."
"So you mean, I am 16 and I just can’t remember my last two birthdays or how I got here where ever I may be. I’m sorry but I can’t accept that I just can’t."
"Son-in-law you must, the only way to get over it is to accept it."
"Would you stop calling me that?"
"Sorry Ranma…Is that better? Now let me explain, you lost your memory…"
"Oh, thanks for pointing out the obvious, what I really want to know is where the hell I am, and why I’m here."
Cologne looked to Dr. Tofu to see if she should continue. She got the go ahead by a slight nod of the head from the doctor.
"Well Ranma…"
"What’s taking them so long? They should be done by now?"
"Ryoga, take a minute and think about what you just said, will ya."
"What?"
"Okay Hon, I’m gonna explain this to ya. Ranma just lost two years or so of memories, he just woke up in a strange place not knowing anything about it or what he’s been up to lately."
"So, what’s wrong with that? I don’t know where I am half the time and you don’t see me complaining."
"In other words, Dr. Tofu, the old ghoul and Mr. Saotome are going to have to explain some things to him, namely where he is, and why he’s here."
"Oh, I get it now."
As Akane sat listening to the conversation going on between Ukyo and Ryoga she couldn’t help but laugh. When she did it brightened the atmosphere in the room considerably.
"My heart is filled with joy to here thee laugh Akane, if only my pig-tailed goddess were here to partake in the celebration."
"Celebration? What the hell are you talking about Kuno? We almost lost Akane, we are going to lose Ranma in a manner of speaking, and you call that a celebration?"
"But of course. With Saotome unable to remember his life since arriving in Nerima his claims for the pig-tailed girl and Akane become invalid."
The other occupants of the room looked at Nabiki in shock and surprise, as she continued to blast Kuno for saying what he did. Akane rose from her seat and walked over to her sister to calm her down.
"Nabiki, calm down it’s alright. We can’t blame Kuno for being a complete and udder idiot it's not his fault, I mean just look at his sister."
When Akane said that Nabiki turned her head towards the younger Kuno, who was sitting in the corner talking to herself about the joy of poisoning. Nabiki turned to Akane to reply but discovered that she was no longer there, in fact she was no longer in the room.
"Akane? Hey where’d she go?"
"I think she went outside, I’ll go get her for you if you want."
"Yeah sure Ryoga, that’d be great. I have a feeling that Akane shouldn’t be by herself at the moment, she could do something drastic."
Ryoga found Akane sitting on a rock by the pond, as he approached her he could tell that she was crying. It pained him to see her like that. True he often saw her cry when he was P-chan, but he never got used to it. He also knew that the person that she was crying over was the same person that she almost always cried over, Ranma. He had spent many a sleepless night wondering what Akane saw in that jerk, all he did was hurt her with his insults and then Ryoga was always the one who had to comfort her.
Why couldn’t Akane love him? Was it too much to ask? Ryoga never once hurt her, well not on purpose anyway, but yet she continued to only see him as her friend and as her pet, not anything less or anything more. But now was not the time to worry about that, Akane didn’t need him to make her life any more difficult then it already was. What she needed was for him to be there for her, she needed a friend and yes Ryoga hated to admit it but she also needed a pet.
"Akane, are you okay?"
Akane jumped obviously startled by the sound of Ryoga’s voice, and immediately turned her face away from Ryoga so that he could not see that she had been crying.
"I’m fine Ryoga, don’t worry about me, worry about Ranma."
Ryoga sat down across from Akane, and put a hand on hers.
"I would like to worry about Ranma, but I can’t. I’ve know Ranma for awhile now and I know that he always bounces back from his problems better then ever, but you… you’ve never had to face something like this before. I don’t want to worry about you Akane, believe me I don’t, but it’s something that I can’t help. I always worry when I see cry."
Akane who had been listening to what Ryoga had been saying turned her tear-streaked face towards him, and gave him a quizzical look.
"What do you mean you always worry when you see me cry? If I remember correctly, I’ve hardly ever cried in front of you, the only person I cry in front of is… P-chan. Ryoga are you P-chan?"
"Um…"
"Please Ryoga, tell me the truth are you P-chan?"
Ryoga averted his eyes from Akanes. He just couldn’t bear looking her in the eye when he said what he was about to say.
"Yes…I…I am P-chan. Akane I’m sorry I know I should have told you but I…I just couldn’t."
"What do you mean you couldn’t Ryoga? What stopped you from telling me?"
"I didn’t want to hurt you. Akane I saw how much it hurt you when Ranma called you uncute or macho and I just thought that it would hurt you even more if I told you that I was P-chan. Akane please don’t be mad at me."
"I’m not mad at you Ryoga, I’m mad at myself. I should have been able to figure out why Ranma kept calling you P-chan and making all those pig jokes about you, but I didn’t. Who knows maybe deep down inside I knew the whole time, it was just that I didn’t want to accept it because if I did I would not only lose my pet but I would also lose my friend."
"No, no you would never lose me Akane, I might lose you, but I would never desert you never, you know that don’t you? You know that if you ever needed someone I would be there for you no matter how long it took me to find you, I would be there."
"I know Ryoga. Life’s been so weird since Ranma got here, without him I never would have met you or the others and I never would have…Oh, God Ryoga what am I gonna do? Just the thought or Ranma not remembering our love hurts, what am I gonna do?"
Ryoga looked in to the tear filled eyes of his friend and for the first time he saw just how much Akane loved Ranma, and he knew that she would never feel for him like she does for Ranma. It was at that moment that Ryoga’s heart broke. Akane loved him he knew that but it wasn’t the same type of love that she had for Ranma, the love she had for Ranma was a true and eternal love, while the love that she had for Ryoga was more of a brotherly love, but what could he do? Turn his back on Akane when she needed him the most because she didn’t share the same feelings for him? No, he couldn’t do that. He would never forgive himself if he did that. What he had to do was forget, he had to bury the feelings that he had for her deep within himself and be there for Akane when she needed him the most.
Without thinking Ryoga wrapped his arms around Akane and just held her while she cried. It pained him to know that Akane could never be his, but it hurt him even more to see her cry like she was.
"Shhh…It will be okay Akane, everything will be alright you’ll see."
"Ryoga?"
"Yeah?"
"Thank-you, I really mean it."
"For what?"
"For being Ranma’s friend, and for being mine, it’s something that I really need right now. A friend who will listen to what I have to say and not say anything back, but just let me talk and cry through my pain that’s why I’m thanking you, you let me do just that."
"So do you understand Ranma?"
Ranma looked at Dr. Tofu and started to nod his head but changed his mind and shrugged. "I…I guess I do."
"Okay then tell us what you understand."
""Well for starters I’m actually 16 and not 14…" Ranma looked at the three other occupants of the room as they encouraged him to continue. "I lost all the memories of the past two years of my life while I was trying to save some girl named Akane. Is that right so far?"
Dr. Tofu knelt down placing a hand on Ranma’s shoulder and looked in to his eyes. "Yes Ranma, that’s right go on."
Hesitantly Ranma continued. "And I’m staying with my pop at the house of one of his friends and his family. And…" Ranma shook his head. "I’m sorry doc that’s all I can remember."
"That’s okay Ranma, you’ve remembered almost all of what we told you. I would have to say that that’s a good start, what do you say Cologne?"
Cologne nodded from her place in the room. "Yes it’s a very good start."
Ryoga entered the common room from the yard closely followed by Akane, when the two entered the others in the room stopped their various conversations and looked at Akane.
"Akane, are you alright?"
"I think I am Kasumi, it…"
Akane was interrupted by the sound of Dr. Tofu clearing his throat, when she turned to face him she saw that Ranma was standing beside him looking around the room at the people who remained. Akane raced toward Ranma and threw her arms around him in a big hug.
"Ranma you’re alright, I was so worried about you…"
Ranma looked down at the strange girl in his arms. Slowly he grasped her by the shoulders and pushed her away from him. When he did that he looked down in to the tear streaked eyes of the fiancée he couldn’t remember.
"Do I know you?"
End Of Part 2...
Well now that's a cliffhanger ain't it? I would like to thank Brandon and Saotome-sama for pre-reading this for me, and I promise the next part will be up as soon as I have it completed.
