Okay before I start we have to go through the usual fun stuff ready? Okay The Ranma ½ characters are property of Rumiko Takahashi. The song I still Believe belongs to Claude-Michel Schonberg, Richard Maltby Jr., & Alain Boublil, from their original musical Miss Saigon.

Authors Note: The song-fic that you are about to read is taken from the musical Miss Saigon, if you don’t know what that musicals about then I’ll tell you. Basically it’s about the fall of Saigon during the Vietnam War; the two main characters are Kim and Chris. They fall in love sort of get married, but then are tragically separated. Chris returns to the states and remarries while Kim stays in Vietnam and has Chris’s baby sound like fun doesn’t it? The song is set in two different places in the play one with Kim and the other in the States in Ellen and Chris’s home. In order for this to work for Ranma ½ I had to change the names mentioned in it. Also the characters used in this song-fic consist of Ranma, Akane, and Ukyo.

When Ranma was forced to finally choose between his fiancées he opted for Ukyo, now a few years later, Akanes heart still yearns for him. Ranma is also plagued by his feelings for Akane and often dreams of her in his sleep.

(Akane awakens and looks around the room a mournful look on her face; looking around the room she spots an old picture of her and Ranma, she reaches out and picks it up. Holding it in her lap she looks intently at the picture.)

Akane:

"Last night I watched him sleeping

My body pressed to him

And then he started speaking

The name I heard him speak…was Akane

Yes, I know that this was years ago

But when moonlight fills my room, I

Know

You are here…still"

(Akane pulls her gaze off of the picture and moves to look out the open window at the pond in the moonlight.)

Akane:

"I still_

I still believe

You will return

I know you will

My heart

Against all odds

Holds still"

(Akane moves her gaze from the pond to the direction of Ukyos place.)

Akane:

"Yes, still

I still believe

I know as long

As I can keep believing, I’ll live

I’ll live

Love cannot die

You will return

You will return

And I

Alone know why"

(Ukyo’s room: Ukyo is sitting in bed looking at the sleeping form of Ranma.)

Ukyo:

"Last night I watched you sleeping

Once more the nightmare came

I heard you cry out something

A word that sounded like…A name

And it hurts me more then I can bear

Knowing part of you I’ll never share

Never know"

(Ukyo gets out of the bed and walks toward the window to look at the night sky.)

Ukyo:

"But still

I still believe

The time will come

When nothing keeps us apart

My heart,

Forever more

Holds still"

(Ranma wakes up from his sleep with a cry. Ukyo rushes over to him and takes him in her arms calming him.)

Ukyo:

"It’s all over, I’m here

There is nothing to fear

Ranma, what’s haunting you?

Won’t you let me inside

What you so want to hide!

I need you too!"

(Akane returns her gaze back to the picture while Ukyo continues to hold Ranma.)

Akane: Ukyo:

"For still

I will hold you all night

I will make it all right

I still believe

You are safe with me

As long as I

And I wish you could tell

What you don’t want to tell

Can keep believing

What your hell must be

I’ll live

I’ll live You can sleep now

You will return You can cry now

I’m your wife now

And I know why

I’m yours For life

(Ranma holds Ukyo in their room, while Akane sits alone in hers still gazing at the picture.)

Music ends

(Akane falls asleep still grasping the picture with tears slowly falling down her face.)
